It's only temporary Ron, I would rather save the money for all the securement gear for an emergency just starting out. I know it's unfortunate but I'm just playing it a little safe.

Hey, you know LS will help you with the equipment purchases through tri city. At least they use to. I know they have stepdeck available RGNs that's a different story. Just hate to see you become one of those guys

I did not know they help out with it. I mean I do have a business credit card with a nice high limit on it but that's the last thing I want to do. I like cash, unless they are willing to help me out which I will find out now! I would love step but last I heard is that they have a nice long waiting list. RGN would be cool to pull again also but I could settle for a flat!

Talk to them at orientation about the funds for chains and tarps. Tri city gives us a pretty good discount on securement stuff. Ill send you a PM in a few with some details

Got it. My biggest thing is I want made in USA chains and binders all 3/8 stuff. I priced it out and it's not cheap, could I do it sure! I'm just more nervous about starting out and having enough funds for the just in case. I would love to get back to open deck though which is why I am doing this. I loved what I use to do, driving on the specialized fleet at TMC! I'm just wanting more reward out of what I know I can do which is why I bought a truck. I did not realize though that LS was given a discount which means I could really afford it even at a 5% or 10% discount. Now a headache rack is another thing. I like enclosed but I'm still looking for a used open for a couple hundred to use.

Hey Milskired, they do finance through LCAPP if they haven't changed anything. I pulled a step at LS from 98 to 04. I had most of my stuff but when I first leased on I needed a few more things, so I got it through them. I'm pulling a reefer right now, but I see me getting back to deckin in the near future. When I was hotshotting under a friends authority we pulled a bunch for LS. Anyway hope you make a good go of it and that's a dang good lookin truck. Keep'er tween the ditches.

I like my enclosed rack but started with an open one, bought it online for a few hundred dollars till I could afford the one I wanted. As far as rags go ( we all hate them) I run with a set of 6 and 8 drops on the step and big machinery tarps on the RGN

Something to keep in mind is that employers have to be careful what they say about you. Many times they will only verify things like start date, end date and eligibility for rehire. If they do anything that can be construed as harmful to an employee finding future employment they open themselves up to a lawsuit.

I've currently got my application in at Landstar and I'm wondering the same thing as the topic of this thread. It took a week just for them to ask for my long form, med card and cdl. I still haven't actually talked to anyone. I also verified my work history. My question would be what are they looking for? I've been a l/o for 4 years, but the company I'm with and I are not getting along well at all. References are going to be tough when we get to that point since I'm a loner and I'm gone so much that many of my daughter's classmates think her parents are divorced. As far as my driving record as of last year I received my 5 year plaque for safe driving and no tickets, accidents, or incidents since. I have had 2 accidents, both were non-preventable and the last was 2 or 3 years ago.

I would think they are not picky. They just take a while to get all the paperwork done.
