Just got all my employee verification thru and they send me the emails where I need to go online to registered for the drug screen (Paid $15out of my pocket), after that they said I need to go ahead get the Landstar inspection near my area which is only 9miles away. Then, they will set up appointment for orientation!

I will keep it posted on this thread of my trucking life with Landstar.

I applied on July 18th(Friday) through online. Got called from recruiter on July 21st(Monday) noon saying they got the application and need other info they need such as your last 10yrs employee contact, blah blah.
My previous company I quit on July 21st was holding my employee verification for like a week and I finally got heard from them July 30th (Wednesday) that Recruiter got all the info she need and I will be in pre-qualified to go get my drug test, and go get my Landstar inspection on my truck (Hopefully, I'll do that following Monday).
I would say all the application got it done in 2weeks if your previous employee gives out your employee verification fast enough then you shouldn't be problem.

nsxftw, I may have a couple questions for you about the 7 PDF files you had to fill out and submit back along with the Title copy, 2290 ect ect. I have not had a real good chance to read through it all yet because I am so busy with my current job... How does the drug test thing work? I read through it and it seems like I go through there instructions and they send me the info on where to go within the next 24 hours? I am thinking about filling it out tomorrow and just tell my work I am taking off next Tuesday to do that, get my HM test done at the DMV and go visit my accountant and maybe go work on the truck for a while. PM me the info if you don't mind.

What I've heard that those 7 PDF files that need to be fill out is at the Orientation. (Not sure yet, but i'll keep you posted)

Drug Test= Follow the instructions on the link they sent you and you filled out info then put down on your credit card info for $15. And they will let you know next days to take drug test near the location. That's what I am waiting on now.

Let me tell you about Landstar,,a lot of their freight comes right off load boards from brokers,,they have a lot of dishonest and crooked agents, fellow drivers will report anything they see you do and then report other Landstar drivers and lie..I called an agent once about a load he had posted for $8,000 gross..Told him I saw the same load on a load board from a broker for $10,000..Agent told me the broker was going to pay him $2,000 of the gross revenue under the table. I have reported s few agents to Landstar management for be dishonest,,they never fired the agents because the agents were high volume,, they even kept an agent with a felony drug conviction.
I down loaded an agents manual once , not one word in it about honesty or character. It's a company that is only interested in profits.
Landstar goes thru agents as fast as they go thru drivers.. many agents own truck with hired drivers and keep the best freight for their own trucks,, I once asked one of their vice presidents how they could offer very cheap freight,,he told me that some drivers want anything just to go home, At a truck show I saw recruiters showing their load board with very high paying loads,,they were ghost loads posted just to sucker owner operators into signing up..If you want to haul a lot of double brokered loads Landstar is for you
Here is an other fact,,Landstar agents would rather broker the loads than give them to Landstar trucks,,agents get only 7% of 98% of the loads gross when they put the loads on landstar trucks,,when they broker the loads they get 50% of what ever is left after they broker the loads. If the gross is $4000 and they broker it for $2000 the agent keeps $1000. They can broker loads for anything that a broker carrier will agree to,,If they put it on a landstar truck they must pay 75% of 98% of the gross to the landstar truck. Here is an other fact on landstars broker board the revenue is 80% of the gross ,, I have 2 landstar agents I have worked with for year that pay me 85% all the time, One always would offer me loads before she would offer them to Landstar trucks <they have a few honest agents but very few.
The agent that has a felony drug conviction was offering me loads from Calif to Va for $15,000 when his customer told me that they were paying Landstar $26,000 I refused to load until the agent agreed to pay me $24,000. His customer told him they did not want any landstar drivers because of additudes and screw up by landstar drivers..Sure they have some good both agents and drivers but vey few

Sounds more like someone who couldnt make the cut and get on here! From the sounds of it if you dislike LS thst much why do you deal with them? You seem to pull there loads. There are alot of us that will disagree with you, been here a while pulled there broker frieght before I came here and I have a bank account to prove it works. I suggest you either back your facts up or push off, What you are saying is way off base and mostly BS. I'm not saying we are a perfect company and not all our agents are straight shooters, but the majority are and the support staff is excellent!

Couldn't make the cut,,,hey boy,,,I did not need someone to hold my hand,, Leasing onto Landstar is for those who can not make it on their own,,some one who needs a mother to look after them,, someone who does not have enough confidence in them selves to be a carrier..Like I said General Dynamics told Landstar they would not load a Landstar truck because Landstar O/Os hit guard shacks,,were not dependable and GD could not depend on them,,and in the end they did not like working with an agent Rich Rohm that was a drug addict..
You see landstar wants people that own trucks that can't make it on their own as a carrier,,,they..I leased to a carrier once for a week,,then became a carrier and went on my own,,best decision I ever made,, Tell me when you made $342K for 92,000 miles and no pilot cars.. Hell back in 85 hauling legal loads I made $150K for 95,000 miles. Work for nothing lease to some one ,,if you can.
Landstar is like 99% of the carriers out there they want wimps that can not do it on their own..many drivers out there and a lot that own their trucks,,few truckers,, So if Landstar works for you,,are you making $1/ mile or more after all your truck cost ? Doubt it..Sounds like the same crap from unions,,they love those who can't make it on their own..
After 92,000 miles I made $1.50 per mile profit with $4300/mo truck and trailer pmts..

This is an example of the kind of O/Os Landstar hires
