I've been searching and can't find much.. what kind of rates are you getting to the truck with running what kinda lanes?
All I see is people saying rates suck on the load board or they're great but nobody ever gives any details.
If you use Landstar's trailers how many drop and hook freight is out there?
Thanks
Landstar rates , what are you guys averaging on all miles for Van?

I had a look at the load board via a webex demonstration - it's a conference call where they control the mouse, point and click.
Grab your phone, a calculator, sheet of paper and pen, and give them a call. They have them 4 times a week.freightwipper Thanks this. -
I have a very good friend at Landstar. He shares some info with me on rates. Everything depends on what kind of trailer you're pulling. It's not hard to get $2-3 a mile AFTER giving Landstar their 35%, and its 25% using your trailer. PM me and I'll give you some details.
spectacle13, blairandgretchen and freightwipper Thank this. -
I just saw Van trailer, lol. Yup. $2-3 a mile.
-
Not really sure what your trying to figure out? You wanna know rates for power unit only or your own equipment. You've got your own rights or your leased to a company?
-
I have a friend who left Crete and joined Landstar... I was just on the phone with him.
He was reading me rates, loaded miles and etc in different areas.
A lot of loads paying $4-$5 a mile on 350-500 mile runs doing Van before Landstar gets their cut.
That seemed too good to be true...
Not much data info on I could find elsewhere...
Thus I wrote this thread wondering what the real story isBrandt Thanks this. -
That's pretty decent if your using their trailer. 2-3$ per mile.
-
Yeah I dunno man 4-5$ per is good. Unless your running NYC then that is not so good you will burn most of that in tolls.

Here's a quick storu that will make you SICK!
Granted - it IS the holidays.
Granted - it IS an agent with whom the guy has a relationship.
Granted - it only occurs 4-5 times a year.
LS van driver leaves NE OK. Goes to KCI. Does 3 round trips from KCI airport to auto customer - 20 miles away.
One day and half a nights' work. Paid $1800 . . . per trip.
So - $5400 for 120miles, and 300 mile deadhead. 63% of $5400 is still . . . ummmm . . . more than I make in a day or two.spectacle13 Thanks this. -
The big money is in flats, steps and specialized. I've seen $40,000 loads on those boards. I've also seen $14,000 for some Van loads.
