Unlike most other companies LS doesn't pay a set rate. Their loads are all over the board as far as rate goes. You get a % of the gross.

Thats why you are a member of the best trucking forum in the world.

Even a LS recruiter will BS you. Ask any questions you might have, there are several current or former LS O/Os on the forum.

Its pretty hard to do that!!

Their rates vary and there are no requirements on how many miles a yr you drive. You can run general freight and barely make by all yr. Or get lucky and find a niche that pays well and only run a few miles per yr but make big coin.

I was told by one of Landstar's recruiters that they go off of 100% now. Said dry van was 65% of 100%. True or not?

Yeah they changed the stupid 75% of 98% or 65% or 98% nonsense.

She told me it was because no one understood it anyway, so they just changed it. I'm sure they are getting their 2% somewhere.

This still seem to be a good time to go with Landstar? The freight at my company job is really good, but we are kind of a niche industry that does good when the economy is down.
My goal since I got into a truck was to be an O/O and LS seems to be one of the better outfits.

When is this going to start? As of Monday it was still the 98%. I made phone calls and after the run around it seems they dropped the % by 2 and did away with the 98% so it ends up close to the same. The 2% was startd in the late 80's as a temporary insurance surcharge. Like a temporary tax it is the closest thing you will ever see to eternal life on this planet.
