| Re: Landstar Is Being Sued By Ooida For Sounds like a job I wouldn't go for. I am usually home 2-3 days a week, and the way that I make 800 per week is if I take a day or two off. I am a HS grad, and have taken a bunch of college work as time and my schedule permitted. My employer checked my background carefully, made me take applicable road tests, and invested time in training me in operating their equipment. The did not train me in driving, since we don't hire without that skill. They have also invested more training time in me as we have gone on, getting me qualified to do other work and haul other products. As a result of my military time, I have numerous skills that are of high value to an employer, managing people and projects, supervising work crews, mechanoical skills that would allow me to work in almost any repair garage if I so desired, and so on. You need to not underrate your fellow drivers. They are a good bunch in general, and the occasional bad apple gets much more attention than he deserves. And i too shall depart the discussion at this point.... Last edited by Burky; 10.12.2006 at 01.19 PM. |

You guys are real . I am not miserable I have the most wonderful family in the world and I love them to death. I also love good people, and the good people of my industry. I live for the one and half days I get to spend with them almost every week, after all that is great right, to spend 78 days on average a year with the ones I love, to raise my kids and be with my wife plus carry on a racing program. I leave on Sunday's with one intention, getting the job done and getting back home, ain't that what the Navy does? If I were a smart man I would still be in the military. But I was ignorent enough to think I should leave the military to be a truckdriver and make all kinds of money. Here I have done nothing but speak the truth in every word I have spoken and now I have been ridiculed and laughed at like it's me that is blind. I have been told it's me that has a problem not the industry. This is just one of those times you just have to do like the good book tells you to, wipe off the dust and carry on. To think I could carry on a real conversation with others in my industry. All I can say is live it, love it and keep on with it. But please in future post I am asking that you leave me out of it. I merely stated my opinion and if I am not incorrect I done it with the utmost respect for the good people out here. I don't belive I deserved your critisism. Anyway good luck. |

Now, I'm not saying we all have to wear three piece suits, naturally, but whatever it is you chose to wear, make it presentable. You wouldn't show up to many other jobs wearing jogging pants and a hole filled tee shirt. So, why do it here. One can be comfortable, and properly dressed. But no matter what your definition of "proper" is, I feel that it should, at least, be clean. Now, did that make sense?

| Re: Landstar Is Being Sued By Ooida For Man, what are we going to do with you? ![]() By the way. I was trying to help that driver understand that you can't change other's, just yourself. I meant no harm.

I may be and you seem to be very right in your post. Maybe it is a small percentage but it is that percentage that America see's. And they leave there mark everywhere they go. I do not wear dress pants neither. I could only see myself trying to tarp a load in those. But I do however make sure I don't stink and try not to show my crack in public, LOL. And I take shower as much as I can. And most public places that don't have truck parking do not have the bathroom problems that a truckstop has. Even Walmart's stalls don't have 50 layers of paint. The car is a 98 Ford Mustang with a big block on spray. It has a full fiberglass body and a tube frame chassis. I have had it done for three weeks now. The best it has ran on the motor is 6.17@112 1/8 mile. I tried the spray once but it was all over the track and had to get out of it midtrack and it still ran a 6.12. It has 10.5X33" tires and is a ex-outlaw car. It used to run low 4's on them 10.5's, I don't know how though it is a handfull with my little big block.
