| Re: Landstar Lies They Have Co. Trucks I was leased with Landstar for a year and Fatboy51 DOES have a point,even though it isn't typed clearly. I have to disagree with finding cheap freight at LS being entirely the O/Os fault. Sometimes that's ALL Landstar has available. When you figure in the deductions and the hassle of having to find your own loads it isn't really worth the effort or is much different than a company being nonforced dispatch and paying a flat rate per mile plus fuel surcharge. Since when did LS charge for using their trailers? That's definitely a new one. It was rare to find dry van truckloads paying over 1.50 a mile gross before the deductions. With flatbeds,specialized or LTL loads the rates may be much higher.

| Re: Landstar Lies They Have Co. Trucks Jack5...I'm not sure when they started leaseing some of their trailers .And I'm not real familair with dry van freight. You have many options.You can rent one of theirs or pull your own if you have one. I do belive that flat and I know specialized does pay more.As well we get a higher % of the load it depends on how you rent the trailer(flat weekly rate or %) we do a flat rate, Its cheaper that way.We get 75 of 97%. As far as the base plates...You can get your own or have them get one for you. Like I said many options on how you can do things. I'm not saying theres not some cheap freight.There is good as well. | Re: Landstar Lies They Have Co. Trucks i was exactly right.she wouldnt talk about deductions,just tried to be cute,by saying she didnt suck,didnt impress anyone.she said she got 75 percent of 97 percent,that really means 72 percent,but dont tell her that.i wonder where she thinks the 3 percent went?all she knows is she dont get it!she said they dont rent trailers,but charge 8 percent to use it,he he hee..lets see now,she really gets 72 percent minus 8 percent trailer rental, equals a wooping 64 percent of the load,but dont tell her that!!she forgot to mention about landstar being sued by ooida for stealing the fuel surcharge!i guess thats ok,with her.donna you got a cdl?lets see now they charge 13.00 dollars every time they load your fuel card,13.00 dollars every time the pay you.it takes about 35 percent for fuel,so 64 percent minus 35 percent equals 29 percent..donna is getting a wooping 29 percent,thats about 4 percent more than drivers pay wow!!lets just talk the truth here about the load pay..they trick people like donna,for years,its reall not her fault,they tell them the gross pay on loads ,and it swells there head,they dont realize or cant subtract..thats what landstar is counting on..donna should subtract her percentage first ,on every load..then tell the agent,no im not really getting 2.00 a mile im really getting 64 percent which equals 1.28 a mile,minus fuel..but no she wont do that,she will go down the road telling stories,like im getting 2.00 a mile,when she is not..landstar counts on people like her,going down the road telling stories..thats why people like donna get mad,when you ask them to put the deduction,on paper,they cant stand it..why i dont know,because it should not be a secret ,to other drivers,so they can make up there minds,with all the correct fiqures.there a lot more deductions from landstar,deducted from your check. |

| Re: Landstar Lies They Have Co. Trucks Quote:
The only legitimate deductions an owner operator should have is for the fuel card used through the company and insurence as an option.. As far as being charged for using company equipment such as a trailer the O/O should not be hit for any charges unless maintenence is not kept up such as breaks and tires. It is common practice to add 5% to an owners pay if the owner is pulling his/her equipment as far as trailers go.. What deductions are you paying to landstar? |
| ||||
| Re: Landstar Lies They Have Co. Trucks At landstar..You provide all your equipment. If you don't have your own trailer. then you rent one from them.Price depends on type of trailer. Its as if you are a company leasing your truck to them.(We can have more than one truck if we want). Deductions depend on how you set things up,do it yourself or have them do it. Mine is ..... insurance Trailer rent highway taxes comdata-Witch by the way is not 13.00 its 1.75 per If you don't use it Its 0 I have a load saved to the comp :3.03ml@884 miles=2682.24 So, no I don't lie!! I'm done with this thread ! Have fun Last edited by DONNALOU; 07.07.2006 at 05.05 PM. |
