I have been told that JB has a cheap lease on used trucks a recruiter that seems on the up and up keeps trying to get me on with em. Get with the field recruiters not the office recruiters they blow the long meat.
    I think it was $250 a week or 400 a month I forgot which?
Now I want to say this. I am really against any lease purchase! Straight up!!! None of these rats in the industry can be trusted in my book or at the least very few can. Now with that said Watch yo back man! Watch yo back!!! Straight up no chaser!!! I ran for a whole year for free rolling for Mayflower and they got the truck back with a new engine new steers tires new AC and this was a flat top Cab-Over!!! Yep thought I knew it all had hope in my heart and a gleam in my eye and first opportunity they destroyed that and opened my eyes to the rats on two legs that run this industry.
The only thing that lasted is my experience and willpower.
If I were you and you watch the rates in the industry very closely and if they rise and many of us are watching very closely, I'd wait a while longer to see how high they will continue to go then level off then decide if it's enough margin in it for you to make it.

I want my own and very soon will have plenty for a down payment but I will watch the industry as a whole to see what's the best move, I still have a Dodge in mind with hot shot'n as my real goal class 8 is my secondary plan due to the mandatory speed limits that may passed very soon and I prefer 70 mph over 65 any day. I like to stay awake not fall asleep and die because of a corrupt pencil neck geek working within the FMCSA and or DOT.

Im coming close to completing my lease with CRST Malone, but it will be completed on my terms, right now im coming to the end of my phase 1 maintenance where i pay $0.12cpm kinda like a insurance for maintenance which i am in favor of I've paid in 30k as of friday, have probably spent 20k putting it in the shop monday i've been crawling through this truck and making them fix everything i find because in september i lose access to the money i paid in then the lease turns sour in CRST favor they charge $0.10cpm for all miles and it only pays for oil changes and tires... needless to say huge ripoff I'm working with my local bank to use the buyout clause and when the maintenance shifts i will buyout the truck i'll only owe 15k and keeping the same payments i pay CRST, i'll pay the bank off

Thank god I just go my bill of sale from Werner, now taking truck to another company, been there for just about 3 years and did everything from company driver, to company driver with another inside company, and then went lpo. I couldn't get out of here fast enough all the free work they ask drivers to do is ridiculas and the below minimum wages they pay out is just outrages but hey if it works for them so be it but hoorah on my way to a much easier and stress free lifestyle.

I looked into l/p last year and decided that it was stacked way too far in the companies favor, as with most large businesses they act in their own best interest, some are greedier than others, but it's way too risky when it comes to your livelihood. That being said, purchasing your own truck is much better. It seems like most of the posts considering l/p is because they have poor credit, or not enough capital to cover fuel and maintenance starting out. But I know of at least one financing company that started a special trucking program where they loan to people with poor credit, they loan money to start a trucking business, revolving credit accounts for maintenance, fuel, factoring, pretty much anything you could need to start out, they even will tailor special packages for you if it makes sense. I've been in the oil field for a few years and I'm working out a deal now that should have my truck and trailer paid off in less than a year and still bring home what I'm used to while putting away a large sum for the inevitable big ticket repairs. Granted the truck and trailer are used, but they are in great shape. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else post about this option.
