Im not sure i can believe all of it.....they do charge the 50 bucks for trailer storage if you dont communicate that you are going home. everytime i go home i have a load booked out of the house and they let me keep my empty, no charge. they do charge the 500 for relays, it happened to me. i broke down but was paid for miles from origin to relay so ended up with a charge of about $230.00. still steep but fair as it is applied to everyone in that situation. it is in place to deter those unsavory few that will drop off a load merely to pick up a better paying load. if they can find another ic to relay it then no charge, it is only if they have to send a company truck to pick it up. the part about charging for the other loads is not true. same in my situation, had two more loads booked and they we simply taken off of me and reposted on the load board.

my experience with schneider has been nothing but positive. there are a few bad apples but keeping calm and staying respectful will go a long way!!

The funny thing is that that story doesn't even make enough sense to be completely made up. It has to be a mixture of reality and serious confusion about what was happening and why, or he just conveniently left out the parts of the story that would explain the otherwise inexplicable events.

Kind of like a kid saying he got suspended from school because he needed to use the bathroom, conveniently leaving out the part of the story where he defecated on the teacher's desk.:biggrin_2559:

I didn't even know Schneider offered this program. I thought they were in the same class as swift, cr, Werner. My question is this. The loads on their load board. Are they legit loads. I mean do they actually pay anything near a wage that is worth hauling it for. Because if the loads are all paying like $1 a mile on average or something then it's not really worth it. At that point then this program does not matter if your allowed to choose the loads that will drive you to bankruptcy or some driver manager/ dispatcher force you on loads that will drive you into bankruptcy.

There are 4 or 5 threads from individuals running the Schneider choice program on the Schneider sub forum at http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/schneider/

Another Company to IC Choice Thread
West Coast Choice Program starting up
    Running With Schneider!
THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE - DFO gets a truck and hops on Schneider's IC Choice Program
Choice program on the West Coast - from company driver to IC

are all threads that have daily traffic in them and the rates they are getting are posted from time to time.

LOL! You would have to show up with a shotgun to to get that price! Try more like $160-$180k each. Maybe $300k a pair if the dealer's feeling generous.

So what is Schneider going to want for the buy out at the end of you generously giving them $208,000? Maybe, $40K? And this $40K with interest? Man this is getting expensive.....for the driver that is. The company is making a killing - they have found a way around the fair credit reporting act.

Fix your credit if it is bad, save up some money, then go buy a truck. You don't begin your business venture once you own the truck. It starts long before that with planning and prudence. Discipline and patience will be your friends.

When you L/P you are not an IC. You may get a 1099, but you are not an IC

Yep, "Independent" being the key word. If you rely on a company for anything (plates, permits, tolls, fuel surcharge, dispatch, company load board, etc) or are regulated by their rules (speed limit, on guard, mileage limit, what clothes to wear) you are not truly "independent".

I was going to go with them I even picked a truck but at the last minute they told me the truck was reserved but I could pick a brand new one but I don't feel like paying that much for a truck that I will never own and you cant even take time off since you are going to be late on payments and good luck catching up.. I chose not to I went bought a truck for 20k on my own and paid it off in 8 months
