a lot of companies have crap lease programs from what I hear from different drivers. I would just be careful and choose wisely, not sure how well a 6month lease works out, they could offer 6 months since a lot of drivers end up leaving it.
After January freight slows down for most companies so take that into consideration wanting to jump into a lease program now. You can make some decent money until then but put some aside for a safety net.Richter Thanks this. -

like they said more experience is good, I have friends who have been teaching me their numbers, what it takes to break even, make money etc. I have considered leasing myself but I know im still not quite ready to take on that financial role. Possibly after the slow part of the season next year if im still even trucking at that point. Some people figure out its not the life for them within a year of trucking so give yourself a little more time to decide.

very good advice, a lot of times you can buy from a dealer at half the payments than you would from the company. I know with Swift for example the lease payments are around $800 per week so $2400 a month, my buddy calculated from arrow sales and it was closer to $1200 a month which is a huge difference BUT you will need a decent down for a dealership. This is how companies hook you since they offer lease programs with 0 down. Some dealers want upwards to 20% down depending on your credit ratings. Also you need to realize rather your down for a week from a break down, home time or just lack of miles the payment still has to be made.

Your $1200 a month is truck payment only for a 500K truck, with maybe a 90 day warranty good only at the purchase dealer and more like up to 30% down .
Not saying one way or the other is the way to go ... but just like you, the OP needs more than 6 months experience and to get through a winter to know whether he can survive in this business.
Bottom line for the OP, more than time behind the wheel, what do you know about starting, building and running a business? ... If you know what you're doing you can build you own business models, run any lease program, or purchase through the model and make your own determination as to what approach and carrier will work best for your circumstance ...coolqban Thanks this. -
Check with Greatwide; steady year round freight because most of their loads are dedicated. You are actually buying the truck, not lease. I personallly know several drivers that are very successful with the program.
