Been leasing 2 yrs been in the hole maybe 3 times mostly becsuse i stayd home to long . My pay is bout same as a company driver except i gotta pay fed state taxes. I avg. .35mi in 2 yrs. Thats the way its suppose to work these companies know the numbers very well . They know how much you gotta make to pay the bills. So first thing you gotta do is find a company that is gonna give you the opportunity to do so.

Living.on a budget is a must unless you got a crystal ball and can determine breakdowns and the economy. You need a budget and savings . I strongly recommend buildg a savings before you start a lease. And if you gotta touch that savings during a lease your going backwards for sure. Might wanna get out why you can .

If you got bills house payment car payments .good luck its hard buildg a saving will doing a lease its no diff than being a company driver it never was meant to be . Think about it why would a company make you a ton of money . That equals profits lost to them there gonna get that money out of you bet on that .

If your willing to get #### for 4 yrs and you think its worth it so you can get the title then go for it. If you think your gonna get rich your definetly not. If you got a family and bills to think about thats fine but there is nothing in your lease that says anything about your family . And remember the lease is designed for you to barely make it . Just like a company driver

So put back a savings live on a really tight budget and hopefully the company will give you a far chance. But remember that trk your making payments on has a market value and if the company wants it back bad enough they will get it. Believe that. Everybody knows low miles you will find snother job . Thats why your here looking.

Its very critical you get with a company that treats you fair .And gives you an opportunity to succeed . They all watch the revenue your making as you pull each load its like data on a ph the company will throttle you back as the revenue goes up. So you just make it. I pull three loads a week the first two pay the bills the third is my paycheck after fuel of course . It very importNt to conserve fuel each load you pull. You gotta make them count or you not gonna like your check at the end of the week . Good luck

Companies figured out how to get drivers to pay for their own repairs.
Companies have figured out how to get drivers to haul freight for fuel money.
Companies have even figured out how to profit from both shippers and drivers.
All left to do is figure out how to get drivers to pay them for moving freight...........My bad thats already been done also...its called the L/P...LOL

The best suggestion I can give you is DONT DO IT!! I actually had an attorney and CPA review some L/P documents for a friend of mine before he made a huge mistake. I will give you the short and sweet version of this. Both the attorney and the CPA thought I was playing a joke on them. They said you would have to be insane to do a L/P. They looked at me very sternly and halfway came across the desk and asked me if I was F*****G out of my mind.

    Here was his advice.
Save enough for a down payment and get your own truck and lease a trailer. Learn the business. Contact the OOIDA and get all the info you can about running your own truck. Want to be impatient and have the illusion of being an owner operator while going broke, destroying your credit and then getting sued. Go play with the lease purchase and have a blast. You have been warned.

That is excellent advice. 99% of all trucks available for L/P are already wore out.And you are trapped into not being able to take time off or you go in the hole. Many of these trucks are leased multiple times and why all these mega fleets have quite a pool of truck retrievers who do nothing but go out and collect abandoned trucks.

The question you should ask yourself is this. Why would a large company or a complete stranger want to help you start a businee? You do not walk in the grocery store and start paying for everybodys' food because you want to make life better for them do you?If they want to help you so much why not just ask CRST England or whoever to just give you a truck. See how far that goes with them. They have plenty setting around and you would be helping them solve a problem. You have to think like they think.

If leasing is a bad thing ... why would you lease a trailer?

Leasing a trailer is way different than leasing a tractor. I am taking about leasing a trailer from a trailer company. Not the carrier. There is a huge monumental difference. Many O/O do lease their trailers because it gives them the flexibility to pull different freight.

The topic I am talking about, as indicated above, is the Lease Purchase of tractor units.
