It's a tough lesson to learn, isn't it? Saying 'I won't do [whatever]' then complaining about not getting miles is like standing in the sun with no shirt on saying 'I don't want a sunburn.' Can't have it both ways. Besides, the more you restrict yourself, the less your DM can rely on you. So, the miles go elsewhere.

Nope. Can't have it both ways.

This is true when someone else is picking your loads for you, they're not going to find you too many choice loads, in a hurry, if you always say ""Never"". I pick my own loads and have to go to the NE simply because that is where the best paying freight it, for Reefer. I don't do the long west coast runs so, I do NE Once I get my step, I will be in much better shape to go where I want to go. and, no NE...lol

I think it's called going in with your eyes open. Those who say "no..." are usually those with less than a year in. Do one full year and you have a good idea what loads you can decline and where the money is...and if doing NE is worth it. I actually think it is because it's not nearly as bad as it's made out to be.

I myself do not care for the NE but my stupidvisor seems to think different. Since they are the ones who sign my check guess where I go a lot of the times? NE

I simply don't like the NE for a few reasons; the people, the Dragon/Fly and the traffic.. But, I can deal with anything so I usually do what is needed instead of what I want... Until I get in a better position that is...

Snow. That makes for a scary Halloween. Despite that, my kids had a good haul of candy. Speaking of which, there is a woman out there I read about in the news or on a podcast who will selectively pass out candy to some , and pass out notes to fat kids with a message saying the kids are obese and shouldn't be out trick or treating . Do you support this woman's actions or are you opposed to what she did?

I don't know if what she is doing is right simply because, if your going to give anyone a message that kids are obese and shouldn't be trick or treating than, she shouldn't be handing out candy at all. When my wife and I raised 5 kids, 3 girls and 2 boys, we didn't let them have candy, snacks, soda or crap like that while growing up; except on birthdays or special occasions but, we never wavered. They all do well in that area today, no one eats junk food like I do...lol Wish someone would have raised me that way.

I told dispatch that I need to be home on the 6th. It's important to me. I covered many JIT ford loads for them, and they have been inconsistent getting me home on time. Sometimes it isn't any fault of theirs and out of anyone's control . Things happen.
Ran my load to Tx, and taking a load of furniture to Lowell, Ar. (No, not for them)
then I'm planned on a drop/hook load from Bruce , ms to Holland mi .
Thats right . A 400+ miles deadhead for my load home. I'm glad I'll be home on time, but wow .

I am so glad I am in control of when, how, where and why. I have a hard time getting home because finding a reefer/van load going to MI is somewhat difficult, unless I am in the right area.

Have you found those areas ? History says to look on other reefer carriers sites for freight they can't cover . Sometimes CRE or one of the others has decent loads . Funny how they will pay outside carriers really well, but not their own fleets .
