Im in a lease with central refrigered/swift. I want to know what will i be liable for if i take this truck back to utah clean it out hand them th e keys and say i am done with the lease when i am not under a load. Can they and will they come after me for money? I am supposed to be an ic and they want to control me like a company driver. I got a phone call this morning from a swift safety person telling me last night that i violated the speed policy i have half a mind to tell them to go to H@#%.

Hang on till 1 year then get a job with diff. CO.
-
Do you mean stay with the lease for a year or get 1 year of experiance because once june swings around i will have a year of experiance.
-
At least a year experience overall is most likely what they meant. Much easier to find another job with 1 yr exp. As to your lease read the contract.

My brother wanted out of a phone contract once & he asked them to let him out of a the contract. Oh they jumped up & down saying they cant just let you out... they cant just cancel the contract. He asked them just to turn the phone off... oh, we cant do that either.
So, he just quit paying the bill. After about 3 months, after them calling & sending letters.. they cut his service off for lack of payment. He went & got a new phone/plan/service at different company. The first call he made was to customer service at is old cell provider & said: I see yall cut my service off? Yes we did, they said.
He said, now you see how easy that was? And promptly hung up... and hasn't heard another word from them.
Now while this is funny, its certainly not something I am suggesting you do. However, in most any situation, there is always more than one way to skin a cat. You just gotta figure out how to do it.
Good luck -
Read your lease agreement, the turn procedures should be in there. Don't ever quit while under
dispatch. Finish the load, or have an agreement on your Elog to drop the trailor before shutting
the truck down to walk. -

when i leased at transam
i realized a ic driver is just a co driver paying the truck off for the co
but do stay until june much easier to get a better job after that -
slightly disagree with the staying to june part. i mean if the op is loosing his butt because he ain't making any money, abandon ship..err truck. just read your lease agreement or better yet have an atty do that for you.
best of luck there driver.
