If you haven't figured this out already, the secret to making these closely scheduled, multi-stop reefer loads work is to pry your butt out of the cab and go pull/re-stack the product off the truck yourself. Ask your carrier if they will permit you to do the work at the rate quoted by resident lumpers, and create your own invoice to turn in with your bills. It can be extra money in your pocket on top of a time saver.
If you're already doing this, forget I brought it up LOL.
To which I always reply, "I'm not those other drivers. I run legal hours. And when you're schedule is not possible to do that way, you will be the first person to hear about it, well in advance."
All that aside, glad to see you getting out there and making a run at it. Mind the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves. I'm sure you're already socking away every spare dollar from those first settlements to prepare for the inevitable repairs and maintenance. Sounds like you got a good carrier to work for and ought to do well. I'll never understand the math behind that nearly $2,600/mo for a truck on a lease purchase from a carrier you're leased to, but that's your business. You've apparently worked it out every which way, chosen this route, and understand what you've gotten into.
Good luck! I look forward to following your thread to see you succeed!

Thanks for the words RedForeman, very much appreciated.
The ONLY thing I don't like about my lease purchase is the trailer rental fee. I don't mind the truck payment, as it will pay off the truck quicker and it is a 2012 Glider Back to the trailer fee, if things go the way I planned, I will be turning that Fee into a trailer payment, when I get the step deck. Yes, I am socking away every penny I can to get my maint fund up to $30,000.00 asap. Once I get that accomplished, I can relax a little bit...lol I have been picking my own loads since the beginning and I feel I am doing better than expected from a rookie I/C.RedForeman and Wickedfire77 Thank this. -
I wish you fair winds and following seas and I look forward to seeing how well (I just know you will be successful) you are doing. As a fellow sheep dog person; below is a recent pic of our Dan (straight Irish bloodline. You KNOW we HAVE to call him Danny Boy. LOL). He's getting old, a bit heavy and his eyesight isn't what it used to be but his instinct is as keen as ever and experience has made him wise and you can tell by his "eye" he's still got a LOT of work in him and knows how to get it done better than the young "pups". Sounds familiar doesn't it. You got this. You totally got this L/P thing. Have fun along the way and remember when to say to yourself and your support system: "That'll do."

Received my settlement last Friday and right off the bat I noticed I wasn't receiving my FSC. So, I looked on all previous settlements and found that I haven't received my FSC since I started. Why the heck did I not notice this, is the first question that popped in my head. Well, my answer to that is; because I never been in business before, never received FSC before and it just slipped my mind to look... I contacted the company I am leased to, asked them to look into it and they agreed. They got back to me in a few days and cleared the matter up, was a software glich. I called the man in charge and told him to just put what they owed me in to the maint. account. I need to get that baby built up asap. My first settlement since was much better than the previous settlements. Now mind you, I have not received any of the owed money, I am just now getting my FSC on all loads.
Latest Settlement;
Total Miles = 3,029
Total Rev = $6200
My paycheck, after all fixed/variable expenses was $2,099.51
Similar Settlement;
Total Miles = 2,809
Total Rev = 6,000.00
Pay check for that week was $553.03
Just goes to show that the FSC can make a difference to you take home pay, before taxes.harlycharly55 and Wickedfire77 Thank this. -
I thought I would go to the cover page on this forum just to see how my views were doing and I spotted this. How did I miss it? Great thread. Keep it up . Can I ask where in Mi do you get to visit?
I wish you all the best and when the time comes, let me know what load board you are looking on!SheepDog Thanks this. -
It all sounds good except the glider part, how old was the truck that got tottaled. And what they always do run you hard for 2 years then tell you no freight except for co trucks.
