If running a business isnt about the money, then whats the point?
You cant go home more, because the truck needs paying for regardless, so that is a myth.
Oh well, lambs to the slaughter for some I guess.

Who says you can't go home more? I am home right now. Was out 4 weeks, will be home for 10 days. I will be taking most of December off as well.

Good for you. Someone else said more hometime is why they wanted a lease truck. It normally doesnt work out that way when paying for a truck. Simple fact.
I have never done a lease deal from a trucking company, and have no intentions to. Leasing equipment from the carrier you run for doesn't make sound business sense to me.
Horses for courses though if you have crap credit etc....

Based on your statements you are the wrong person to give leasing advice.
I am someone with good credit, money in the bank and I lease my truck from the trucking company I pull for.

Based on my statements? Hmmm OK.
Wont get into it, I dont have to lease a truck from a carrier to make a living, and was doing it before these "deals" were out there.
    Keep the sunglasses on though.....

It will cost your company business which in turn affects what you earn. Shippers and receivers care. It's a liability if they load unsafe carriers that can bite them. Having suffered the affects of drivers who don't take care of business I saw first hand what it did at our company. For a 6 month period until our scores came down lots of customers would not load our trucks. So you should care because it does matter and affect your operation.

See? There's another example of selective reading and application. My point was and is that a good or a bad score has no effect at all on the way I drive.

Also, I'm sure your statements about "shippers and receivers care" and how "lots of customers would not load our trucks" are accurate based on your view, but I'm not sure how relevant they are system-wide. If it was, those companies with poor scores, like the one in whose forum we are commenting, would be out of business, right? But they're not.

    So...why should I care again?

So many haters, even those who have never done it, think their way is the only way and that all company leases are doomed to fail, even those that have been successful again and again. No worries. Haters gonna hate.

It shouldn't effect the way u drive denial but it does show how the company treats the drivers. If you can't see that then I give up explaining. But when a company has scores like that it tells me the company don't care and why should the driver. I guess if you have no choice or want to turn a blind eye then by all means sign up at Western express.

I am not a lease hater by the way.. I would love a lease where I can be successful and own a truck at the same time... and no I haven't tried leasing... just the stories scare me. So while I truly am not a lease hater. I would just suggest a more reputable company even if it is swift... I truly would never drive for them either however they are a better choice then WE.
