How much per week or mile would be enough for the stress?

If I read that correctly (maybe I did not) his take home after all expenses was 38K gross, -20-25% taxes and there is nothing left. Lots of people say there are only low paying trucking jobs, then people say they lease to get more money - yet I read there are plenty of high paying trucking jobs, OS/HH, Tanker, Flatbed etc., not sure why more people don't go after these jobs if they want more money rather than potentially wasting your time in a lease - as there isnt any risk in most deals as you can walk away, but a waste of your time it surely is.

Yeah ... Wasted my time last year, worked 41 weeks and only put $51k in my pocket.

Lol, so you netted 51k on a lease which means you grossed about 70k and took 11 weeks of vacation?

I would say either post your W2 or quit following me around this forum adding 0 value as you post.

His gross would have been somewhere north of 100k to bring home 51k net.

This is true. Go over to the Schneider section and you'll find plenty of Lease drivers (including myself) that are very satisfied. The numbers the OP posted would be unworkable but as stated above, not all leases are the same.

I'm not following you around. You just keep landing in the few forums I follow regularly and spouting nonsense.

Employees get W2s ... business owners have gross receipts - which in the case of a lease to a carrier comes in the form of a 1099.

My gross receipts last year were $173K ... Of which I cleared $51K in my pocket - not including the $12.5 that I held back to cover maintenance expenses and my taxes.

It's not that the numbers are unworkable - the fixed costs are average and the base rate is a little low, but not untenable.

It's in the managing of the variable cost and the revenue/mileage projection ... His numbers reflect an operator that is not effectively managing his fuel costs and can't generate the miles to maximize their revenue. Fuel costs should be no more than $.57 and easily less. Miles same thing, 120K but closer to 125K or more ... he makes the assumption that 3000 miles a week is a mythical unicorn. But, yet I've averaged that consistently for 4 years now and I know several other who have also.

This is easily one of the most intelligent posts I have seen in a very long time.

The Choice program is one of the better ones. Remember, when someone is doing something like this to become an O/O it is more likely because they don't have the credit and/or down to make it happen.

As we launch our program I am making sure that people have a business plan before they get approved. That to me eliminates that biggest issue in L/P, if you fog a mirror you can sign. And that is a two way street in terms of responsibility. Because you are an idiot and signed up for something you don't understand makes your failure your fault, not the big bad carrier.
