If you're with a good company you can earn $50K-$60k per year as an OTR company driver, that's easily possible even with just a year experience.
So in my mind it's not worth it to take on all the risk and responsibilities of a lease to earn the same or just a tad above the wages of a company driver.

Is to possible out there to do a lease deal, sign onto a company.. and then after all expenses.. truck payment, fuel, maintenance etc to be able to earn $80K+ a year?
If so I wanna please hear your story, breaking it down and who you're with.

All I seem to hear is horror stories about leasing, and the assumed "doing well" at leasing is just not going broke.
Is there a light at the end of the tunnel for any lease anywhere? Or are all leases everywhere just a train at the end of the tunnel....

    notsonewb Thanks this.

Don't lease then.. Save up money and pay cash for cheap truck and you can pick up a decent trailer for another 7-9 grand, have some set aside for your maintenance and until you get cash rolling in and go out and make money. I fully oppose someone telling me it's " My Business' but who then controls my income, my money, my truck, and how I run 'My business' Leasing is the carriers best interest. If they could force all their drivers to lease, they would in a second.

I'm just curious and still on a path of learning.
Even if there was a great paying lease situation I'm not ready to jump into something like that yet even if I wanted to.

My first year leasing I netted $68,000. I am on schedule to hit $80,000 this year. I have a thread on the lease sub forum.

My friend works for Legacy and makes well over that. I've seen his online settlements. And that was his personal reported income for his adjusted gross.

Yes, that's what adjusted gross income is after expenses. As far as I know he's the highest paid person VERIFIED I've ever met.
