A friend bought a new KW 680 2 months ago,,,leased to CEVA as a team after 2 weeks of 250/day team runs he switched to Forward Air.

Always interested in carriers and their programs I looked at their website, learned that they are very actively seeking lease purchase operators.
I sent them an email asking about their LP program,,could not believe what they sent me.
They are offering 2012 used International tractors most likely with about 500,000 miles or more 9spd trans.

Figured the 2012 used International trucks were only worth retail between $40k and a max $55K. Trade in value is about $25,000-$30,000
Their no down 60 months lease purchase was $420/week,,
after 60 months the higher value $55K price of the truck comes out to over $109,000 to pay it off..Best I can figure the finance charge comes out to 33% APR interest on the loan,,

Below is what they emailed me,,very low paying company with loan shark interest rates.

I hauled brokered Air Freight back in 1993 and got $2/mile

    >FOrward is the largest air freight carrier in the world!
    > *Has the highest paid professional owner operators in the industry!
    > *Offers only terminal to terminal line haul runs with predictable home
    > time!
    > *Manages to ensure you keep running by operating on a drop & hook system!
    > *Allows good people the opportunity to be owner operators with a ZERO down
    > lease purchase!
    > *Pays the highest FSC in the air freight industry!
    >
    > That's right, we make available to you a ZERO down Lease Purchase

    > here folks! 2700 miles avg X $1.40 per mile = $3,780.00 gross weekly!

1.40 a mile is a joke... I agree ith you. I have always felt that a lease purchase program is a glorified company driver. lease purchase plans are extremely expensive and overpriced. You end up paying usually double if not more what the truck is worth. I think it's best to save your money if you want to be an owner operator and buy yourself a good used starter truck. unfortunately I have seen many drivers raked over the coals when they got into a lease purchase program

Please dont ever confuse L/P as a "glorified company driver" I find that very offense,L/P drivers are way down at the bottom of the of the pile looking up at "certified company drivers"..

The 2012 Internationals are known to be lemons. You can't earn money with a truck that's in the shop. That $1.40/mile rate makes it even worse. Run.

I been leasing 3.5 yrs never missed a truck payment avg. 1200 take home . Go home when i want as long as i want. I have lost a rearend, turbo, and i bought a clutch. I spend 9000 avg yr on Maint. most of it isnt necessary just taking a write off and upgrade truck.

9 months i get the title. Do as i pleaze. I went this route so if i or the truck failed i wouldnt be in debt to a bank.I simply walk away. I listened to all the critisism on these forums all they did was hold me back.

Some make some dont . I work for a. company that wants the driver to make it. I pay for everything including tags and permits where most dont. I have .54 mi fuel cost and im currently paying 1.98. - 2.30gal for fuel. w/my discounts.

This is my 1st lease if i can do it so can you. Leasing is an opportunity to own a truck and advance your career.

I was a company driver for 22 yrs fell behind in child support of about 10,000. In 3.5 yrs i have never missed a payment plus my arrears paid off. There are alot of bad stories out there some are valid some are mis manegment of funds.

2010 T660 9 months to go. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
