In 1 aspect you are right not enough research before i jumped in. I didnt relize about fuel first i was over fueling thinking it all come out, then i fuel with out being dispatched. I got into trucking because i trying to save every thing i had lol I lost it all not being able to come home in 3 months. So i thought I i can make the best of it any way and calledd my truck home. in 15 months i only did home time 3 times every time i go to my moms it seemed i get punished for a 2 or 3 day out of the truck because i wouldnt get load for a week or 2. then they send me to locations were i have to dead head 300-500 miles. I have discovered throw it all that i enjoy OTR and Plan on getting on with another company 1 that treat me right. I dont think i could be a company driver again but if the company is good to there drivers i give it try

A picture is worth a 1000 words ... keep your truck clean ... all those doodads are waste of money ... I cleared $51K after taxes last year and spent almost 3 months on hometime. -
All the doodads believe it or not are for safety. As long as there looking then they are semi aware. lol

So how many miles per week must you drive just to meet the payments ? 1800 ?
-
That depends on all kinds of factors. And there are many more "payments" that must be made than just the truck rental. My guess is you would be stressed trying to do it on 1,800 miles a week, though if you got the right ones - short-haul, high pay - you might. Anyone considering a lease must have drive experience AND some business sense to make it. You'll have to deal with an accountant and lawyer. You'll have to read and understand and apply what's in a very complex contract.
Do not get all gaga about the high pay they float in front of you; they're talking about the successful lessors, not beginners, and they're talking about gross, not net income. Trucking is a tough business, even for company drivers. Add the lease/purchase aspect and it gets down right nasty. Take some business classes somewhere. Study basic accounting. Drive through four seasons all over the country as a company driver, only responsible for the getting the load to its destination on time. Then you'll have an idea of how to do the job and whether you're a good candidate to lease and start your own business.biggrobs, NavigatorWife, Mean Streak and 2 others Thank this.
