Hey there I want to buy as my first truck Kenworth. Which model, year, engine, transmission advise? Work plan to drive van or reefer. Advise where to buy a truck because fresh credit history, an initial contribution can make up to 20K maximum (diller please). I drive to 3000+ miles per week. About truckpayper I know, I just want to buy a well-tested place. Thanks

Before any purchase, not sure how long you have been driving, but with little experience, based on your info, you may find it hard to get insured, on what type of truck? All depends on what you prefer? Torque? H.P.?, fuel consumption? Style of truck, need more info from you on what kind of taste you have

Hi Golga, smart move, can't go wrong with a K-Whopper. Probably, the best truck out there. I'd go with a W-900, and nothing less than a 500 hp. (or any Cat motor). There's a bunch out there, so choose wisely, Grasshopper.

If buying used get a t600 do not get the paccar engine,,,only dealers will work on the Paccar engine, Dealers have very high labor rates,,MHC in KS charges $155/hr ,stay away from Arrow,,and MHC ...look for a small KW dealer. Suggest Central GMC/Kenworth is Landover ,MD

If New get a T680 w/cummins,,,13spd,,336 or close rear ration,,if ordering get disc brakes,,,

Financing is cheap now,,PACCAR finance is about 4%,,My last truck and 2 trailers were finance by Wells Fargo great to deal with,,

To add to this, look for a good pre emission (03 or older) W900 with the big kitty, 13 or 18 speed and 3:55 rears.

    Thank you all.
What is good W900? What year is best to take the truck? What to look for when buying a truck first of all?

Hi Golga, well, I always liked the old ones, ( Sonny Pruit or Snowman's) but that may not be an option for you. Like generallee sez, make sure it's a pre-emission motor.

When you look at your paycheck vs the other guys paycheck with a smaller truck your gonna be like what the h but if your gonna pull something pull stepdeck it pays out more money that van since almost everyone pulls van but you should get something with 500 horsepower even though you wouldnt need all those horses but if your going to do that go to truckpaper and other trucking sights when you look at the truck look at the engine make year model and also look at everything else
