I am considering a lease with SNI's Choice Program, not a lease purchase. Can anyone tell me if the payments are a write off and also what other things could be written off as business expenses? Thank you!

If you buy a truck vs leasing one you do not get to write off the tuck payments. You will need to depreciate the truck cost over 3 years but that may come very close to what writing off payments would be.

Other expanses can be written off as regular business expenses.

But strictly leasing one you can write off your monthly payments?

    No.

When purchasing a truck it becomes an capital asset of your business and large assets like that have to be deprecated so you cannot just right off payments like you can when you lease a truck. Lease payments are an expense that can be written off.

This is one reason lots of companies choose to lease equipment rather than buy it, leasing is not always a bad idea.

Its best you talk with a tax advisor, CPA, or tax attorney to get specific advice for your personal situation rather than taking advice from a forum.

Geezus ... you're confusing the crap out of the guy ... he's asking about the tax ramifications of his lease payments ... "LEASE PAYMENTS"! You tell him no and go into a diatribe about depreciation - which is kinda sorta right, but not quite - and then tell him he can write off lease payments.

I did misread his last post when making my second reply as he started this thread by being clear that he was NOT looking at a lease purchase but calling my reply any type of “diatribe” is a bit ridicules, perhaps you should look up the term.

To the OP, yes, when leasing a truck from them (or anyone including a dealership) the lease payments made can be deducted from your taxes.

As I said before, consult your own tax advisor.
