Is there a truck lease company anywhere that charges by mile instead of a fixed payment?
I would like to pay more when I run more and pay less when I run less. Miles are the real depreciation for a truck. Time not so much. I've never heard of this concept but it would suit my situation well. Time at home wouldn't be as costly. When I run 3000+ miles a week I would pay for it. Less pressure to always be moving. 80-90,000 miles a year is enough for me. I try to have a life also.
I'm already leased to a company and have customers. Just need the right deal on a truck.

Lease=Renting.......save your money for a Down Payment to purchase a truck.
All Fleece/Purchases are a Fixed Weekly Payment. -
Are you talking about leasing from a manufacturer or from a truck co. ? A manufacturer will have a monthly payment like a car. A truck co. will have weekly payments. I remember truck co's that leased equipment by the mile (truck/trailers). Which isn't a bad concept. When parked, you're not making payments.

not 100 % sure but i think jct does something like that.

Here's a good question: Is there a company who doesn't charge the driver for maintenance on a lease truck?
My point being, why would anyone pay for maintenance on a lease truck that doesn't belong to them?Clamhammer Thanks this. -
Yes there are a couple of companies that have a " by the mile lease" . ACT TRUCKING out of Kansas city Mo. Has one ,I work there and most of the guys are making good money. Celadon is another company doing it as well. Same with RTI.

And, the pay rate is on a sliding scale of .90 -.94. Where does the .94 cut in at, plus stop and detention pay is included, who actually gets that? Then there is a .04 per mile bonus. Bonus for what? How many people actually get that either? Lot's of fuzzy math there. I bet the actual income from the miles stated is quite lower than advertised.Last edited: Apr 8, 2015

I appreciate the info but I'm just looking for a truck. I already have brokers, customers etc. I don't want to deal with a new company. Just a truck that doesn't cost me to be at home.
