SNI (Schneider) has a decent program, the Choice program Lets you choose you're own freight has different levels of the contract (1-3-5 year ones depending on tractor) and its all based on you, You can self dispatch and run where the rates are good. All of the L/P's out there have different choices, Another one that comes to mind is JTC mainly because of the variable mileage they only have you pay on what you run so if you have a crappy week your payments are that much lower, which in turn drops your fixed costs for the week.

Others out there are similar, I personally chose Knight because it met what I was looking for I was also a company driver for years so I know their lanes the rest are Low payments, decent time at paying off the truck and the warranty they offer covers pretty much anything internal (Had the motor rebuilt due to oil consumption ended up not costing me a dime) everyone's choice here is going to be different this is where you the driver will have to research and find what fits you and what your end goals are for the whole thing.

    Edit,
Had this added in but for some reason it did not save.

Fixed cost are going to be different depending on where you sign on but you can email the ones your looking into to find out what there fixed costs are going to be, aka truck payment, insurance, plates and maintenance. As for what truck to go with, I agree with the person that posted in one of you're other posts. It's a million dollar question and pretty much you can just roll a pair of dice on that one sometimes you get a awesome truck sometimes you get a lemon.

Run your numbers if you have a mortgage that is a fixed costs if you have a car payment that is a fixed cost. If you have student loans that is a fixed cost. People need to add to their costs the bills and rent or mortgage they already pay. Then add in the fixed and rolling costs. And what it cost per mile to pay all the bills. And then you will know what you're break even amout will be. And break even is just paying all the costs, and nothing to you. My numbers are 1.20 is break even. So i would need to run at a rate of 2.40 per mile min to cover dead head and bob tailing. So don't get sucked into a lease where your paid .90 cpm otherwise your running in the red.

So I'm curious, are Schneider L/O's allowed to do two consecutive 1 year leases?

I talked to 2 Schneider L/P drivers last night trying to talk about how good they think they have it. They showed their settlement sheets after expenses. One made just over $700 and the other just under $900. In 7 days. And one was braggin about a run from MN to southern Georgia that paid $1700 and took 4 days to deliver. And it is a grocery load that will not deliver early.

And they are on he choice program, getting their "choice" of cheap freight.

Why is it so hard to put aside money for 5 years and buy a cheap truck for under $50,000? If you cant afford to do that there is no way you are going to make it on a lease.

Every single lease purchase I see, the driver makes the bosses truck payment for him, more is riding in the driver as far as responsibility, the driver makes not much more and usually less than a company driver at the same outfit would.

You might want to stroll on over to the SNI forums on this board, There is a few choice drivers over there that have no problem making cash. Even one that did the 1 year L/O then bought his truck and signed it on with SNI. Also cheap fright depends on I guess how you dispatch your self most of them are making between 1.70 to 2.10 CPM for all miles including there deadhead.

Now to answer the OP's question, Yes as far as I know you can lease 1 year over and over, Same truck if you like or change out I believe tho this question maybe better asked over in the SNI forums as they work for them and would know.

So what you are saying is Schneider has a good lease purchase deal?? You basically have evidence that two drivers that have no idea of how to run a business can still make positive checks??

Whether they do or dont know how to run a business, 4 days and only 1700 revenue for a run from MN to southern GA in a dry box, also the fact that it dumps you in southern GA on a Friday.

I Think it's one that doesn't shake and rattle going down the road. I drive a freightliner so I'm not really familiar with the concept
