You can hardly compare the two concepts. The Fleece purchase requires little more than a pulse to get started.

Ok scenario- guy started a lease. Was making good money and loving it. Got offered a gig home everyday same money. He turned the lease truck in and took the local job.

Now in the books that counts as a "failed" lease. But was it really?

The fleece purchase can more easily be considered a failure for the same reasons as the "Housing market crash."
    Yes.

See now I don't see it like that cause had he not got the other job offer he would of stayed and completed said lease.

Now if he had turned it in because he was negative every week or cause of no miles then I would consider that a failed lease.

Trouble with these lease deals also is that you are at the mercy of the company you work for. They control how much money you make, or don't make.

They can give you crappy, low paying loads. Or just flat out sit you somewhere and starve you out. Big risk to take when the company has all the power.

Actually not all leases are like that. Schneider has the choice board where you, the driver and leasee, control what, when, and where you run. They have no control over any of it.

Please tell me how successful your "fleece purchase" or owner/operator experience has been so I know the level of expertise you bring to the discussion.

I had a truck and trailer paid for and hauled most loads at over $2.00/mile and doesn't take a rocket science to realize there simply isn't enough revenue to cover expenses, pay, and reinvestment to justify risk. My wife and myself are good with money and raised 4 kids on my Union LTL salary.I couldn't imagine us being where we are if I had been all these years a O/O or L/P.Your snide comments aren't necessary and best example I can state is,"How long could you expect your yardman to cut your 1 acre yard for $50 if it cost him $45 to do it? For every dollar you take in,you are spending at the very least 90 cents. If you say any different you haven't got hit yet with any of those multi thousand dollar repair bills that are sure to come.
