So the basic debate here is about L/P programs from the carriers direct right?

I am about to sign with LoneMountain Leasing, and so far other then the 60months of payments "with no balloon payment @ the end" nobody can really tell me anything bad about them... The recruiters @ both Landstar & Mercer say that about 35-58% of brand new leases from LoneMountain are paid in full and outright own their trucks @ the end of the term. so to me that sounds like a 50/50 chance of making it to the end of the lease term... I guess everyone is different, but I were to base my business plan and goals and success based on someone else's efforts I mind as well hang up my keys now and call it quits...

From talking to friends of mine who have bought their own trucks, it seems to be that trucking is no different than other businesses owned by individuals. Most fail within a couple of years due to choices the owner makes. Talking with my father whos been in the industry for over 20 years, he thinks the biggest reason people fail in trucking is because they get lazy, and want more freedom but lack the drive to actually self start.

BAck i 2010 when to a company to do a L/P my first i have to. Say that for the first 3 month they almost kill me a lot of milles but no money on my pocket situation was bad and geting wors quit the company and when back to my house for the next tw weeks i spend time thinking about everything that happens.one thing i learned was i need it to be able to work my L/P like a O/O will explained later second need to manage ur expenses.1- Beginning with the fuel economy just because they have the truck open to 70mph they are running on hwy at maximum speed.2- you need to fix anything and everything you can put your hands on we have many driver today that think becouse they become O/O they do not have to do the dirty work no more this did no happens to me.3- tell the company to f***** up and let me run my bussines becouse from the get go we do not have a forced dispatch and this one will be funn this where you will prube your self you will have to stick to your guns company will try to fight back but send the dispatcher to the hell i will get on fire for this but all i have to say is i did it and i made all the way. So going back after two weeks I called my dispatcher again got back to the compny to my old truck 9900ix international 475 cummins with 13 speed first thing i did was to set up the truck at 63mph they call me crazy but i new what i was doing at the end i did 6.3mpg all year around .2-need to know the preplaner and start running in the areas that I wanted to be and drive theme crazy to the point that no budy wanted to talk to me did not care at the end i had what i was looking for.when it come to maintain the truck if it not in your contract and if it is something you can not put your hands on find the best place to fix it in today world is easy to do with the smart phone we have to many drivers today the first they do is they call the company ooo i have a. Problem with my truck i need to get it fix where the company will send you to the biggest dealer they can find in the area at $150 ph you no why becouse they do not care the company they might have the maintce account money but you need to be able to manage it find the best place for you to fix it.4-check this before you sign the paper all the charge in the lease the company i was working with i had.1-truck paidment 410 a week .2- maintenance acc at 10 cpm.3-bobtail insurance at $8. A week.4- physical damage at $27 a week.5-scrow account $50 a week up to 2500.6-the most important of all how much will cost you to run ur truk and take all the possible mesure to save money specilly in fuel to save the penny to make the dollar and that was it no communication charge they privided the permit all of theme at no charge and plate for the truck at no charge and at the end i had to paid for my 2290 i will say this if you find companies charging you more than this i will walk away from it this is come to the driver site now the company site from the beginning they will not like what you are doing for one simple reason You will take the controls out off they hands and they will no like it but like i say before you have to stick to ur guns bring attitude make. It difficult to talk to you until they realize you are a lose case. My lease was for two year my average a week was 2800 to 3600 mpw i can not say it was easy but i did how i did id if you get to this point in my messages you all have an idea how.All i can say is if you are not able to do what i did i will walk away from tha company becouse they will make your life miserable good luck to you all and i hope you all will find the right company to make your deal work

why did you get the company to set your governed speed lower? Are you unable to control your speed yourself?
