Looks like I'll be graduating from CDL school pretty soon and I'm looking to get on with an LTL company (San Antonio area if it makes a difference)
Out of the LTL companies that take CDL graduates which do you guys feel a new driver can learn the most at. I don't want to pick up bad habits from lazy trainers or not be taught at all. Pay isn't that important right now since the pay scales aren't that much different between companies. But I know how much the proper training now will pay off down the road.
Thanks for the help
Which LTL company has the best training for new drivers?

??? he said LTL carrier. I know ABF used to run a school for new drivers, maybe contact your local terminal. I also know YRC is looking for guys at most terminals, give them a call.
Texas Bound Thanks this. -

@ ABF When we get new guys with CDL / endorsements already good to go, Whomever is available get Voluntold showing the trade. Not exactly in the definition of the word "trainers", More like along the criteria of don't **** up product and some tricks of the trade. Learn on the job and of course paperwork handhelds and stickers.
At my shop, Ask questions keep your ears open and do it best of your ability. This is not a training company, will be hands on from day 1 and until you retire ( P/d )Texas Bound Thanks this. -

Abf has certain terminals that are hiring for "city driver school". If your local is and you get hired on you will work the dock for a month or two to make sure your not a screwup and the. Be sent to there school which is run by the university of arkansas at ft smith cdl school. Regular 160 hr cdl course like you just went thru but in abf trucks and one on one training while out on the road.
already gone Thanks this. -
abf would be your best bet, best overall package rolling down the road, minus ups...

Good luck. Abf and YRC are the only major ltl companies with training programs. I have heard they get over 100 apps for every training opening, and usually take people that already work their docks

UPS has openings for dock workers with CDL's, that might be an option. At least get your foot in the door.
