I think I have a shot at getting on with FedEx Freight for a city driver spot. This terminal starts at $23/ hr and some change. Can anyone tell me about the job description? What about benefits ? Are any of these terminals Union yet ? This is for a location near San Francisco.

I use to work for Fedex freight in Maryland and I can tell you that every terminal is different. The benefits are great at fedex and you also get alot of discounts off loads of stuff. Even buying vehicles. The job itself like I said varies from terminal to terminal. I worked for two locations here in Maryland for fedex. Here's where these two varied. One location loved using 53' trailers for everything so you would find yourself at a residential in a 53' trailer. I mainly did my area in a 53' , while other driver's where in pups. The other location would use a box truck for their residential deliveries and they also had the best trucks from volvo's, peterbilts and kenworths. The other terminal mainly used old sterling trucks with no ac . I met a guy from California who transferred from California to Maryland just to help his parents out and he told me that they only averaged about 10max deliveries a day. All of them are dock to dock and it was only 5 drivers there. Good luck because fedex is a great company and I have heard about the union but I don't know if it's certain terminals or all across the board.

Actually, it's OT after 8 or OT after 10 if you're on a 4/10 schedule. Either way, it's OT after 40 no matter what.

I use to think the same way that it's ot after 40 anyway but its not. When it got slow and you weren't actually working 40 a week , only getting like 36hrs a week. But out of those 36 hrs atleast 8 hrs is ot. That's when you realize that it's ot after 8.

I just got done declining a job with them. The terminal I would have been part of payed $20.56/hour. OT after 8. Their benefits are pretty decent:

    1 week vacation: 1 yr
    2 week vacation: 2 yr
    3 week vacation: 5 yr
    4 week vacation: 12 yr

Health care costs more than other carriers in the local area.

Reason why I turned down the job was that they do offer OT after eight, very few drivers will receive more than 40 hours/week of work. Again, this is for my area.

    RJ33RD Thanks this.
