If they want cheaper health insurance, then they should stay out of the union. It was the unions who gave mass support to Obama and obamacare and that is the reason so many have seen their premiums rise. There are consequences to your actions. An $0.80 raise? They are likely paying more than that in union dues. SUCKERS!!! I don't understand why some of these drivers will join a union or lawsuit (Walmart in California) when they are already making more than most driver with other companies. Perhaps these companies should use more outside carriers to move their freight. Union problem solved. I really wish that unions were illegal. Their actions would be considered illegal in any other environment. Put a union label on the action and it is acceptable to the government. The sheep will believe anything.
Joetro Thanks this. -
Unions are about bbenefits, insurance, retirement plans, fair treatment of workers, and job security. They prevent big companies from overworking, abusing, and exploiting employeescisco, already gone and Victor_V Thank this. -
I apologize for misreading the article about the pay raise. I went back and reread it and FedEx did give drivers a wage hike. I didn't see anything in the article about them doing that to avoid unionization, although that was probably the reason.
You are incorrect about me not understanding unions. I know how they work all too well. The try to create dissatisfaction among workers and attempt to disenfranchise them to a point where they can sell them on their union propaganda. They tell workers that the company is taking advantage of them and that they "deserve" their "fair share" of company profits. They use their propaganda to drive a wedge between labor and management. They tell potential members that they "deserve" more benefits, wages, etc., regardless of their contribution to the company. Unions lie to workers and some fall for their propaganda. They do what the liberals have been doing for years. Make people feel like victims and you are their savior and the sheep will follow. Those who support unions don't really understand them or how they operate. Unions are corrupt and have been corrupt since the beginning. Unions not only benefit from member dues, but they are really after the members pensions. This is money unions can use for their own benefit.
I have never understood why some Americans would even contemplate becoming involved with unions. This country was built by entrepreneurs and individuals who were rewarded according to their efforts. We live in such an entitlement society today, that unions know if they can convince workers that they are helpless victims that they can enroll them and pick their pockets. Some of the efforts I have seen lately by unions involve higher paying jobs and workers are already being well compensated. Volkswagen workers in Tennessee initially rejected unions by a comfortable margin. Now, the union has made announcements that they have enough votes to unionize. These workers are already making more than most in the area. Walmart is being sued in California because some of their drivers have been convinced that they are helpless victims of a big corporation, even though most of them earn well over $80,000/year. Yep, those are poverty wages, all right. Now, we see FedEx drivers who want to be victims. It is really crazy and defies logic. I have no doubt the unions are behind the lawsuit in California. Those who participate want something for nothing. When a driver thinks they are being victimize because they only earn $80,000/year, something is really wrong with their thought process.
I do understand the effects of union interference in industry. Like others who have been around for a while, I have seen unions drive companies out of business and forced them to relocate, often out of the country, taking jobs with them. Workers are left high and dry, but the unions move on. There is nothing a union can do for you that you cannot do for yourself except pick your pocket. Union members that I have personally observed are less productive and often lazy compared to their non union counterparts. There is little incentive for union members to be productive. In fact, often higher productivity is discouraged. And I have seen this first hand. I have always decided that if I don't like conditions or pay at a company that I will move on to another company. The OSU Thanks this. -
Well, I strongly disagree with you. You seem to favor business ownere, and I support the workers that make the businesses run. But, we ddon't have to agree. its America and we all have the right to our own beliefs, and we have the right to work where we want, and the right to choose union if we want. Have a good day

I've worked both non union and union jobs. In this industry you somewhat need a union for job security. i do agree they do protect the worthless workers who abuse it and can't handle another job else where. But at the same time I'll take my pension plan and eb able to retire one day while my friend who is a pension and union hater is working for another 40 years... But he's in love with his job so I guess good for him
already gone and fuzzeymateo Thank this. -
Very well said......I'll only add that in a perfect world Unions wouldn't need to exist but because we are imperfect, they exist. I have friends at Fedex Freight and though the wages are pretty good, they are often talked down to by management and kept from working overtime. For me I think the way management treats you is everything. I've worked Union before and found that management treats you very well and then there's the great wages and benefits. -
unions are the purest form of free enterprise, 2 sides sitting down together to make a business deal. just like company's do it, the bigger you are the more leverage you have. 1 person asking for a raise or trying to get better insurance from a company that employs 10's of thousands of workers, you have no leverage. ban together and you may be able to get a better deal.
i love your last sentence, if you don't like it move on, lose time on the job towards vacation time, better routes, lose your 401k match if not vested and have to start over, lose your health insurance. please tell me why you are so against employees asking for a raise, better working conditions, or benefits?Shaggy, Victor_V and already gone Thank this. -

G/MAN wow, Don't know when to stop spewing crap, do you?
