OK so I have been living in my company truck 7 months now. I am wanting to go local and make more money. I was looking into the Dallas/fort worth area or odessa/midlands. I am open to living any where else for a good opportunity as I have no home. I would like an hourly job that would accept someone with 7months dryvan OTR experience. I have my tanker and hazmat. Who would you say is a great local company?
DFW, Odessa tx or local ANYWHERE. Who do you like?

I talked to someone out in the oilfield odessa about hauling and treating wells for frac water. States 18-20/hr to start. Maybe that's a good lead. Going to try getting more info.
Chinatown Thanks this. -

Most good local will want 1-3 years recent experience. If someone genuinely pays well there is a reason. If there is anyway to stay with your current company for 1 to 3 years I would do it if you plan on doing this a while. If not anything goes. Living in the truck gives you the flexibility to take it easy and keep a clean record.

I would stick it out with your current employer for at least a year. It will give you more options. There are local companies down toward Burleson and around Cleburne. I have seen some off 67 south of Dallas advertise for drivers. I have no idea about their minimum requirements. If you want to get into oilfield work, they are working all around Tarrant county and the Odessa/Midland area. You might check with some of the equipment rental companies. They have them all over that area. Most companies look for at least 1-2 years of recent experience. Have you check with your state employment office? Many carriers list job openings with them. I have hires a number of drivers from state employment referrals.

Toughing it out until I hit the year. Now just have to decide if its best to transfer to Conway local or another ltl in the DFW area or oilfields.

Most of the ltl's carriers are hiring in Odessa. Some have even offered sign on bonuses because they are so short handed. If you are interested in going to work for one of them I would put in an app and see what happens. Minimum requirements for some companies has become minimum preferences because they are so desperate for help.

The only hard part in Odessa is figuring out where my fiance and I can live and afford it
