Tractors are assigned by route at our terminal.
-
Tractors are assigned to linehaul drivers first, in order of seniority. The P&D drivers are assigned to tractors by start time, not seniority. Not the usual for CWF, but its how our SCM wishes to do it.
Pintlehook Thanks this. -
Con-way has no policy. Every terminal is different. This year we are bidding on tractors.

At my terminal, trucks are assigned to night line-haul runs and the senior guy picks first from what's available on that run. Once you bid a truck it's yours no matter where you go. Day assignments are based off what works out time wise so the truck is back in time for the two drivers. Works out pretty well.

I'm a l/h driver, 9 out of 11. We all have freightliners, newest to longest run. The upcoming year someone suggested gladiator style fighting for trucks. Not a bad idea, it would switch things up a bit 😳
