Looking into applying at both Southeastern Freight Lines and Willaims Brothers Trucking (ABT) for the Hazelhurst, GA area. Anyone work for them or got any info on these companies and what the "Real" deal is with them as in hours/pay? Thanks in Advance!

If you have a choice go with with southeast. Wbt pay is not that great. They pay cheap mileage hauling wood chips and wood products. Where do you live? I know a lot about both companies. Just ask what you need to know

    Murdock Thanks this.

I'm looking to live close to hazelhurst, but originally from Blackshear. I will be retiring in about 3 yrs and want to make sure that I have something layed on decient when I do. These 2 companies look as close to what I'm looking for. Do you know what kind of day on or off schedule they run and is the pay by mile or hour?

Congrats on your retirement. I see that HET. I'm retiring shortly myself. WTB has early morning hours because you have to go back and forth to the chip mills if you are hauling chips for them. WTB has 3 options hauling containers, wood chips and pallets. WTB gets paid mileage based on empty or loaded.

sefl gets paid a high hourly rate if you are a local driver. The hours depends on the route that you have and it may include some dock work i.e. Loading and unloading your truck before and after your route. Sefl you will also be required to unload your truck at certain if not all stops if you are a P&D driver.
at SEFL you also have the option to be a line haul driver where all you would do is from terminal to terminal with no touching of the freight and dealing with customers, but that is night time work and the pay is a high mileage rate.

Thanks for the info BigSarge, I am not looking to make a huge amount of money but something close to around 2-2.5k a month. With retirement money feeding me that should be fine. Just looking for a little extra cushion for the bank account and to keep the boss lady happy.

For P&D at SEFL...you're looking at M-F and approximately 0600-0900 for a start time...and a finish time of around 1900. P&D drivers at my terminal average around 50-55 hours.

Assuming you're retiring from the military and depending on how they credit your experience...you might be starting out as a "Driver Trainee." That's what I am at the moment. If that's the case...you start with driver pay ($21.75 in my neck if the woods) and start out working on the dock and yard.
