Probably a horse a piece. I think ABF is union, not sure about OD.

Well, not sure if you've ever worked for a union company, and we're not going into that (per moderators), let's just say it's different. I have a friend that works for a non-union company and has been hauling a lot of ABF freight in their own trucks. Not sure how they get away with that, but it would make me nervous.

I understand that OD and ABF both don't have as many daily line haul lanes because they don't move as much guaranteed freight. I run line haul, lots of Cincinnati, Fremont IN, Columbus OH and I see very few OD or ABF wagons rolling at night. Lots of Con-way, UPSF and Fed EX Freight.

As a card carrying union member I say go with ABF however OD may be one of the best non union companies to work for..

ABF's guys are getting over $.60/mile plus company paid benefits which includes contributions to the pension fund. They also get drop and hook pay. You would probably start at 85% of top rate. I think they have 3year tier system. I do not think OD is union. Probably no overtime until like 45-50 hours if you are working on the clock. ABF's top guys are pushing $100/ year. Part of ABF's problem is they are short handed. They are picky who they hire and they have next to turnover.

Depends what time you roll through. I run to Columbus through Cincinnati evey night and see lots of OD, although not as much ABF.

OD is non union, start out at $.56 per mile.
