Currently in the oilfield and looking for other work since its so spotty right now. Had a road test with them yesterday and said I have the job if I want it, probably gonna take it. I wouldn't exactly call them ltl but its the same type of work. All city driving 10-14 stops a run and you unload the trailer yourself. Pretty cool schedule, two 2 day runs, average about 34-36 hours a run. Delivering to burger king, arby's, wendy's, quizznos, checkers and few others I think.
Just wondering If anyone has worked with them before and could give me the details about management and stuff, you know how they treat you and stuff, what you averaged a week. I was told how they work it you'll never have to take your reset in a truck stop, is that true for most part? I'm hearing 950-1150 which isn't terrible for a 4 day week, comparable to otr gigs. Me being 21 I know Im not gonna be making big money right out of the gate, have to put in work first.
Anyone ever hear about Willow Run Foods out of Binghamton NY?

Yea I figured most people haven't heard of them, surprised you ran into them all the way out there. I was told the furthest west they run is Erie pa. White freight shakers with blue and red stripes you saw? Not sure how big their fleet is but I'd say its around 75 or so maybe more. Anyways I'll be happy to have a regular schedule instead of being on call 24/7 with no days off schedule.
The pay is by the load and by the case. I was told averaging about 1100-1400 cases per load, pretty much running at gross so at least I'll stay in shape. I plan on keeping a log of how things go just incase anyone around the area considers working there. Been told its one of the best blue collar jobs in my area so hope it holds truePintlehook Thanks this. -
I see them on I-90 I don't know of anyone here they service. Unless there grabbing loads to take back to the warehouse from someone. I know who you're talking about I see them. I work for Gordon Food Service our pay is very similar to the way you guys get paid.

I'd be interested to hear how it works out for you. I live and work about an hour south of Binghamton, and see their trucks almost every day.

I'm a bit nervous about driving in the city, lots of nyc, philly, boston, all the jersey cities. In my brief driving experience so far its been out in the country with really no traffic to contend with. I'm used to short wheel base petes with 45ft bulk trailers being the longest I've pulled, with lots of times pulling short 40 footers. Willow run has 70in condos with 48 footers which to me seems a bit overkill to have big condos for 2 day runsLast edited: Feb 27, 2015

I don't know anything about Willow Run, but McLane is another regional food service distributor in this area. I'm told by drivers that used to work there that they run teams, 2 days out. One driver is driving / on duty for 10, and the other helps with the lumping while logging SB. They switch back and forth until they finish the route. Then they both get 10 off and come back to do it again. -
Going out on a ride along tonight. 12 stops in north jersey.....should be fun in this lovely snow/ice storm. Least I'm getting paid for it. Quick question to any of you ltl/food service guys, do you get a per diem for overnights? we get 35 a night and if the odd chance the truck is broke down and we're in a rental day cab its 60 for the inconvenience.

I grew up about a mile from where they are located now....Always hiring drivers, good money if want to work, and you will do metro fast food deliveries...
They are much like every other food service outfit, they will keep you busy if you so choose..
Can't say I ever really heard anything bad about them other than going into metro area's, those fast food places have some pretty small lots be extra carefull !! -
