Hey guys, I was thinking of responding to a local ad on craigslist and wanted to get opinions on the pay. It's DPM Logistics pulling doubles for FedEx. They say (up to) .45/mi plus drop and hook pay, but don't specify what the drop and hook pay is. It's doing home daily regional (VA, NC, PA)and not sure what the typical pay for that stuff is. Figured I'd get some ideas before I called and got hit with a number I didn't know whether it was good or bad.

Just call them.If you're not happy with what they say then tell them you're going to look elsewhere. There not going to try and talk you into filling out an application.45 cpm plus pay for hooking/unhooking does'nt sound too bad.Awhole lot better then what a fedex contractor was going to pay me,38cpm and no other pay.

DPM Logistics is probably a contractor, especially if they put an ad on Craigslist. The .45 cpm is pretty good. You would just have to find out what D/H pay is. More than likely it won't come with insurance benefits, but you never know. I ran part time for a FedEx Ground contractor once and it didn't have health insurance for the full time guys.

The per mile rate doesn't sound bad, but my question would be about benefits. $0.45/mile is not all that impressive if there's no healthcare, dental, 401k match, etc.

Also...gotta ask about what shift you'd be driving on. My first month and a half or so with SEFL...I worked ~0130-0930. I liked the work (dock and yard jockey starting out), but that shift kicked my ###. I don't think I could have done it for much longer.

Thanks guy's, my health ins is through my wife but I'll have to called and ask about the D/H pay and the shift. I can't understand why these companies list half there pay and not the rest. Or my favorite when they tell you about a pay increase, but not the info! Who are they kidding? Can't win lol

A lot of guys aren't bright enough to look into the weeds...where compensation is concerned. They're just looking at the per mile or hour rate. Companies know this and don't go into much detail for that reason.

I.e. Signing bonuses. Some companies advertise a $5,000 bonus for new drivers. The catch? It's often paid out in installments every 6+ months. Many drivers job hop. The companies in question likely pay out less than half of those full advertised bonus amounts.
