    Ours started with regen issues, they go back to the dealer where they have them for a week or more at a time, we get them back and within a couple of days they are dragged back to the dealer. The dealer will tell you they don't know how to work on them and they are usually just guessing. Electrical/computer issues with the regen system have been a major PIA.

    Nothing beats the older E7's. Sorry, but the new Mack engines are just Volvo engines.

    I absolutely love the jake on my Pete. Drove a freightshaker and international and they dont compare to it at all.

    Are you serious? All trucks have the same engines, so if you drive a Freightliner, Peterbilt or International with an CAT C15, they sound the same. The only change is the muffler. So you pulled up to my International and said your Peterbilt's are louder and quicker, I'd laugh.

    Funny. I find the power leash to work pretty good in most conditions...at least when the truck is loaded. I pull a 6,200 gallon tanker hauling spring water, and the power leash combined with the mDRIVE will hold me back on any hill I encounter. The caveat is that (with the 12 speed mDRIVE) it works best in 11th gear or lower. Empty though, the power leash is so strong that I wont run it EVER if the road is wet. This leads me to the one gripe I have with the ones on our trucks. It is a single stage, all or nothing engine brake. This I don't like, as I would flip my old Jacobs brake to the first or second stage depending on grade and road conditions. Can't do that in the truck I'm currently driving.

    What's great about Mack is how they tried to disguise the Volvo junk by renaming them, talk about a disgrace to a name,they should change the hood ornament to a donkey!!! Just gotta thank the good old EPA, and the tree huggers!!! (side note) I smile every time a tree goes thru our chipper!!!

    MP8 is Volvo D13 engine painted red for Mack and Renault trucks.

    If you wann know more about volvo engine brake (jakes/VEB with EPG) read more in Volvo section. Really MP8 gon only one original part - Mack Logo.

    People say that Mack engines are more powerfull, but belive me it is just software thing.

    '09 Mack CXU with an MP8 445hp and the powerleash, I run the mountains with mine, generally 65,000 lbs +, never an issue with it holding back. Last week I ran Grand Junction to Denver at 75,700. Dropped off Genesse in 7th, jakes on high, kept my speed between 35 and 40 mph the whole way without a problem. I run US 550 over Coal Bank, Molass and Red Mtn. every two weeks (will do it again tomorrow) usually around 60,000 lbs without issue. Currently have 371,000 on mine.

    the actual engine break on the so cold mack mp8 engine aka volvo d13 is actual not a mack engine break is a volvo engine break because they have design the engine;mack likes to rename the stuff they get from volvo because they have to let's say '' save the name'';a lot of components have nothing to do with mack anymoore like the so cold ADVANTAGE chassis wich is a volvo design and mack got it in 2005 or 2006;the engine line up 11L 13L and 16L ; the Mdrive tranny aka Ishift; the 40000pounds back suspension is again a volvo design and the list can continue; i drive a 2012 mack with a 505hp mp8 engine and i pull 140000pounds gross weight or 63500kg and for that kind a weight the engine break holds good;
