Anyone have any experience with the engine brake they call the power leash? Does it just make noise or does it actually do something to slow your truck down a bit.

Hold your hat out the window and make farting noises thru your lips and you will achieve the same effect as the power leash...

    haha, thanks.

I was just wondering. I saw on the MP8 engine you have to have the power leash instead of the Jake brake. Some have said the jake worked a lot better, I love mack trucks but if Imma buy a truck it better slow me down going down a mountain. This maxxforce engine's jake is weak.

There is nothing that I am aware of on the market that can come close to a jake. All the rest of them are just party noise makers. Like I said hold you hat out the window and make noise and you will achieve the same effect if not more retarding power!!!

MaxForce should be referred to as MAXFARCE!!!! We refer to them as Hanger Queens, the warranty will expire on time before miles since they are such hanger queens.

It is too bad the Mack took the wing windows out of the doors, you could have saved yourself the cost of the Power Leash by opening both wing windows to acheive the same braking effect as the power leash.

I hear ya, luckily i haven't had any problems. The jake on my engine just sucks. So Im sure it could be compared to the power leash haha

How many miles on your MaxFarce? At between 50-75k miles the ones that we have started having major issues. Hence the nickname Hanger Queens. Our company is trying to get Intertrashional to take them back, if not there will probably be some legal wrangling going on to settle the deal. POS's if you ask me, just another cheap POS fleet truck...
