I need your help ...... I found a 07 Vision with a MP-7., has 280.000 miles on it and looks good. Problem is it has swallowed a valve and of course doesn't run but truck is priced cheap.

And that's my problem, I smell a rat and the seller is being coy. I own a Mack already so I know parts are high BUT I also know I could set a remack engine in here ( if needed ) for X dollars and still be under the trucks book value and I'm sure the seller does too.

What's the story on the MP-7 ? Tell me your experience . Is it a DEF motor? A POS boat anchor?

    Tks....

it's 100% Volvo engine, no changes. They've had problems with exhaust valve quality but not anymore.

No, real coy. Won't talk about why he didn't fix it either. Based on what was said here and what i read elsewhere I'm going to pass. ( I did put 10k on the table just for grins, don't think I can get hurt from there )

If he bites I could always stuff an E-7 or something else in there if I had to with that kind of room.

    Tks....

Swallowed a valve because he did an improper valve adjust most likely. Common when done wrong. Thing is, usually will need a cam.

The MP7 is in a lot of LEs, MRs, and MRUs. 90% of these are used in sanitation so they are commonly used engines. My shop takes card of a lot of them. Most common problem is the $40 flame temp sensor in the catalyst. Otherwise no engine issues.

He didn't bite the ten....now with the cam knowledge I'm glad i stayed short on the price. Also explains why he didn't fix it. I did a cam on a Cummins some years back and it was no picnic.

    Thanks Shaggy....
