Can someone give me some advice on how to build up this mack for better 0 to 60 mph and overall more torque and hp. Mostly torque is what I need. I am starting to drive dump in Chicago area and one of my friends is selling me his mack , he has asked me million times is there a way to tune up these trucks and make them faster on 0 to 60 mph off the line. Bc in dump you need faster get up off the light or a stop sign, not long overall speed . I have been with him on the job and ive seen other guys with same truck manual trans get up faster from him n beat him to the drop off or pick up. Me and him have been researching on how to make this possible but the guys we asked that have those faster trucks told us that they never did anything to their macks. Being fast and quick is what makes you money in dump bussines. I am also going to school to be a truck mechanic but have t gotten involved with aftermarket performance yet. Any pointers or help will be great.

Probably in the gearing. Your rear end ratio could be lower, transmissions different, even tire size makes a difference at start from a stop. The other drivers might skip a gear or two when shifting. Some Macks are geared lower for off road work, meaning slower acceleration. Theirs might not be ' PURE MACK " as yours. Check your running gear ratios against theirs.
Macks are not known for a quick get-a-way.

Deeper gears (numerically higher) will generally give better acceleration, at the cost of top end speed. Find out what gears are in the drive axles and see if you can find some deeper gears to replace them with. I.E. if you have 3.08:1 try to find 3.55:1 or 4.10:1 or deeper.
Think I saw something about a Mack tuner box on the Pittsburgh Power website, haven't really seen too much for Macks otherwise. Good luck.

Also adding to what they said...... it's in the ecm too. Been that way since the 90's and the E-7. ( I got one )

I'll ask you to note this tho....... if you add torque and horses in the ecm you stress your drive line more. That's your U joints, slip shafts, clutch, tires etc. All of these and more will wear out sooner.....and many items still have to come from the dog especially a pure bred like yours. Been to dog lately? They are very proud of their stuff.

Being an 07 it should have the MP series engine..... the MP 7 is not all that in any department either. I just passed a 07 with a blown engine ( 300k) because of the cost to rebuild the engine.

I see you mentioned others with a manual trans....... yours is automatic? In the dirt? Need to see your specs on the truck......

But if you just have to show up the other guys, grab a couple of crisp hundreds and call the dog. Make an appt. to have dog hook it up and pinch her in the butt. If it's yours and out of warranty they will be glad to fix you up.

    Good luck,
    JMO

Chalupa raises another point, IMO. Deeper gears will provide more mechanical advantage, lessening the strain on the rest of the driveline, at the expense of top speed, otr fuel economy, and perhaps tire life.

alot of those rd's in chicago are running t-2070's with 5.73 and t-2090's with 5.02's stop light to stop light not alot will run with them how much hp do you have stock also if its a gold dog that mean mack manual trans(in 2007) and Mack rears you could send the ecm off or put in some bigger injectors
