Im a local driver out of Charlotte NC with a company based out of Florida and the nearest terminal in Atlanta. My question is my glad hand on my tractor continues to fall off the airline.
After this happens each time a local shop mechanic takes a razor blade and cuts a little of the line off and sticks glad hand back on. Is there a permanent fix for this.

    mje Thanks this.

Walk outside go into your side box, grab a hammer and get on cat walk bend down and WHACK the metal part that connects the glad hand. LOL It tightens it up. I have to do it everyday with a different trailer!! I have a small crowbar and I put it under the glad hand to line em up correctly then I tap the bottom of the glad hand to get them good and tight.

Tell your shop to quit being so cheap and put new gland hands on the tractor. There's your permanent fix.

I was going to say that but im thinking its something else if the shop keeps using a razor blade on it.

i think he means the hand falls off the air hose. If thats the case, get a new line with hand already attached or use a hose clamp on real tight.

did i read that correct? the glad hand is falling off the airline? sounds like maybe the plastic synflex airline with a quick connect fitting on the glad hand maybe? if thats the case have them use a compression fitting. It sounds pretty dangerous to be not fixing it correctly

That is how I read it also. Need to install new lines if this is happening. A set of red and blue coil lines are not that expensive. Maybe 50.00-60.00 range for the set and gland hands are in the 5-10 a piece range. So for 70.00 no more problems.

If the glad hands are just unhooking from the trailer and not the air line blowing off of them then just install new glad hands.
