never crawled up a hill in my Mack, but I've given a few Pete's and KW's a scare and a run for their money with her.

Mack Pinnacles are by far my favorite truck to drive and comfortable. But mine is a 6-speed day cab and I drive around Indiana where it's as flat as can be pulling light loads so I'm probably not much help on performance.

Yup. I've got 485 hp under the hood, an 18 speed transmission, and 4.17 rears in my Mack. I've had quite a few large-car-wannabe's try and fail to pass me getting going from a stop when the light turns green or pulling a hill.

My new one is only 450 hp, with that push button auto, in normal mode, I start in 3rd gear (even loaded), and rapidly skip shift. If I put it in Perf. mode, it starts in 1st, and hits every hole up to 12. In Perf. mode, it will launch well. There are large cars that will out run me on the flats, even on hills depending on the load (because I'm geared wrong, 3.43 I think it is, but I'll still give them a good run for their money.

I'm not a fan of where truck gearing is going every time you go to a higher ratio your taking out hp and torque to the ground, the bean counters is happy gaining what few tenths over a fleet of hundreds but for a owner operator or driver your loosing time and performance. put a set of 3.56 or 3.63 with the m drive and it would be a diffrent truck I looked at a brand new 2 year old truck with m drive and 3.21 gears money was right but its useless the way they geared it
