I am about to go to work for a flatbed company that uses the new Pinnacles with 70in sleepers. They do have 10 speeds I know. Just wanted to know how they ride, if their engine brakes work worth a flip or not etc. and if they pull a hill decent. The company I work for uses nuetered Prostars with Maxxforce 13's. God, these exhaust brakes are a joke and these things can't pull a hill. I have been meaning to ask a few of the guys I see out there but I am usually securing a load when I see them lol. Any help would be great, thanks!
How are Mack Pinnacles?

Never driven one but Mack use to have a good rep. of a strong truck. One of 2 trucks I never driven however. I would prefer Mack over a Peterbilt

Well, if you don't like them, just go out and buy your own truck!!

The Pinnacle will seem like a large car compared to that maxxfarce. I drove a day cab 2012 Pinnacle after my company got suckered into trying out 5 of the new transtars and 5 prostars all with the maxxfarce in them.
After about 9 months of dealing with all the maxxfarce problems my company gave up and started buying Pinnacles. It's a shame that the maxxfarce was such a failure, I really liked the looks of the transtars, it was plenty roomy inside for a day cab, and it road pretty nicely too. The jake brake leaves a bit to be desired, but in my opinion, most non Jacobs brakes do. -
I just got myself into a 2014 Pinnacle day cab, brand new two months ago. I have 16000 plus miles in it now. We have the MP8 w/ 10 speed Fuller, governed at 75 mph at about 1600 rpm. I haul steel blanks in covered wagons, most loads gross around 78000 lbs. It has good power on what I consider rolling hills in Georgia, S.C. & Alabama. It will outpull most trucks except the really big H.P. rigs. As far as company trucks go, you can't ask for much more. The ride is good, it does have a lot of cab motion but you will get used to it and not even notice it. Only problem that really digs at me is the shifter feels like it has a cable linkage, it doesn't but it just doesn't have a positive feel when you move the shifter from gear to gear up or down. It doesn't feel like a worn in tranny and it shouldn't but it gives a real inconsistent feel to the shifter. The engine brake is fair but it does a decent job, not a Jake though. Other than that I cant think of any other negatives to this truck.

I think the New Mack trucks are part of the Voilvo family now......
I drove many "R" model Macks back in the early 90's......Strongest,hardest working trucks on the planet......FORD made a good solid, strong truck too Ford LTL9000
i dont think there are any NEW trucks out there made out of complete Steel anymore (Cab-Chassis-Everything)RERM Thanks this. -
I drove Mack daycabs back a year ago, no complaints, and yes the a/c will make a polar bears nipples hard.

Our company has about 300 Mack daycabs, about 75 are newer 2012-2014 Pinnacles,I drive an '06 Vision with an auto-shift 10 but I have driven a couple of the 2012's and they do ride a lot nicer that the Vision and have great disc brakes.
Ours are either Allison 6 speed full automatics or the newest ones with the M drive 12 speed full auto.
The old Vision is noisy inside and the floor gets hot, the Pinnacle is much better insulated and quieter, very nice to drive. -
Is a 2010 Mack with auto trans 10 speed, 455 engine and 3:55 rears a better buy than International 435 cummins 10 speed manual, 3:58 rears. both over 400,000 miles. On the fence between the two, about too purchase. never drove Mack.
