I have been wondering which engine would be more reliable/durable.I have heard people were having problems with the mp7,is this true. And witch one if spec'd the same would have more power.

    Thanks.

MP8 is better so yes 7 has some problems. I looked at a MP7 in a 2011 that was blown up at 256k cause the valves were adjusted wrong and it ate a valve. 10k to reman plus a head so 15k all done at Mack assuming nothing else was bad. Guy wanted 22k for truck as it was.....I passed based on a recommendation from Mack.

Take the last 6 of the vin to Mack and run the service records...they will tell you.

    Good luck

Cant say anything about an MP8. I have driven a Pinnacle with an MP7 for app 200k. Only issue I have had is the fan fell off going 75 mph. I was expecting a a huge hole in the radiator, Nope fan disintegrated in the shroud. The bolts holding the fan on were not heavy enough to support the fan. On a normal road it may be ok. This happened in Northern Maine on I 95 where they have forgotten what asphalt is used for
