Hello, This is my first time posting so pls bear with me, I just bought a used Mack R model that had been parked for a long time. at first the gear lever had to forced to engage or to be pulled out of gear ,so we adjusted the clutch cable but the problem persisted: though once in gear it rode ok. we have also adjusted the disk from outside but to no avail, my friend suggested it might be the clutch plate what do you think?

Hi Ini, welcome aboard. Sounds to me like the clutch is still turning. Either a warped clutch disc or the pilot bearing in the flywheel is seized. Maybe a spring on the disc itself is broke or rusted. When in gear at a stop, does it creep forward? I doubt it's a transmission issue, as I drove many Macks, and they are indestructible. (5 or 6 speed?) Either way, it looks like a clutch removal is in order. Good luck.
