    why

Why is Marten starting to send out letters from Tim N., asking FORMER drivers to return to Marten?

Could it be that they now realized they screwed up, when they enacted forced perdiem, started a no more than 4 days off, no matter if you have been out six weeks. Any extra time, you must turn truck in.
Or putting all thier long haul frieght on the rail, because Marten says that is what the shippers want. And creating regional fleets, where the miles have dropped for most, unless you like delvering jit over night 3 weeks straight.

When all these changes started, many , many SR. drivers told them, hey your going to screw yourself with these changes. Causes in reality, the changes are going to benefit Marten, not the drivers. ie: a 3 cent per miles comes out of the drivers check for ' admin fees' for being on FORCED PERDEIM.

Well now they are 'begging' former drivers in good standing to come back. Tim N., are you just stupid, or are you ***king DEAF DUMB AND BLIND?

I got a Xmas Card last year, asking basicaly the same thing. No letter, but 5 former drivers who i keep in touch with , have.
I haven't had time to go thru the PILE of mail i picked up from the house last week. If i do get one, i'll frame it and nail it to the bathroom wall, so i can have a good laugh.

Who knows what's going on now, I've been hearing that they are increasing detention and local pay as well as giving automatic detention so there is definately an effort being made to look more attractive to drivers.

If they are asking former drivers to return then it is possible that the revolving door approach to drivers has started to affect customer saticfaction. The new management really believed that they didn't need the good long term expierienced driver anymore, just get a steering wheel holder for a cheaper pay rate and make them go along with perdiem and rail loads as well as the lack of miles. The newer drivers had no clue that these changes had taken place being that they were'nt familier with Marten prior to that time and the company was using them as a cash cow. Us vetran drivers at that time saw right through it and protested doing these things and that is why they wanted us gone.

Guess that hasn't worked as well as they had hoped, i bet there are a bunch of trucks being abandoned under loads as well as low job performance because that is what you get when you decide to try and get by with a lower calipur of driver and the customers that have used Marten for years might be tired of dealing those drivers so now they're in ruch to try to get the old drivers that the customers liked back in the mix.

A lot of companies try to beef up driver numbers before they sell out to other companies. West Way did that before becoming Skunk trucks. (Dick Simon)

On top of it all, you the driver pay 3 cents per miles to be on FORCED PERDEIM.
