+1 to everything notarps has said...

Maverick is very selective, they always have been.

As to what they seen the OP do or heard him say that got him cut...who knows, but it was something.

No experience will not get you sent home from Maverick...they train drivers on how to secure loads, even "door swingers" will make the grade if they are motivated and willing.

No; would not be a problem. The recruiters there are straight shooters. Maverick won't tolerate any deception from a driver or someone in the office. By the time they get to orientation they have already done extensive back ground on a potential driver. The meeting in face is the final stages of the interview.

Hey notarps, I have been reading all your posts about Maverick, and have found
them very usefull. Thank You. My question to you is, what do you think this guy did wrong for him to get sent home so quick? I am leaving for NLR in a couple of weeks, and I dont want to do what this guy did.

I think I know what was wrong, not being able to sleep on the bus and leaving on friday then arriving on sunday at 6:30 am.
I was out of it when I went to class at 7:00 am.
I tried my best to look alert but the class went on to 6:30 pm, I took notes etc. as the teacher spoke.
thing is I was not 100 percent, I was up from 8am friday.
the following morning I was cut, while waiting on line to take my dot.
All my classmates were there from the day before, they were all fresh and more alert.
Get there a day ahead of time, so you are awake and alert.
I thought when the recruiter told me on the phone I was hired , I was hired, did not know they played this game.
they have one guy sit in the back of the class he is watching everyone, while the teacher is in the front of the class.
    Good luck

Gary, Thanks. Im coming from a little farther away from where you live, and Im hoping I dont go threw the bus ordeal that you had. Did they know your bus was full, and you couldnt get on it, and had to wait for another bus? Any info you can share with me would be highly appreciated.

No they did not know, I only told them after they told me I was not maverick material that is when I told them what had happened.
Just sleep real good before you take the bus and if your taking gray hound they will have you get off every 5 to 8 hours and you have to take your bags and then wait in a bus terminal for one to two hours to board another bus, this I had to do six times to get there.
if they want you there on sunday, try to take a bus that will get you there saturday.
also there are tons of homeless people in them bus stations so be careful and watch your bags. two people on had there bags lost I seen along the ride.

    You are welcome!

To be honest I have no idea. I do not remember the stats I read in their magazine between the lines a few years ago, but the number of applicants that applied I think the % hired was 2 %. I did a lot of research on them before I went there. I knew the selection process was strict when I went in. Knowing that I sit back and watched and knew of some that would not make it. I had them all pegged except one (other than health or medical issues) One made it that I did not think would get on. Pretty much have to remember job offers are not until thursday I think. You are on a extended interview.

Too be honest with the requirements that strict what they are doing is insuring they don't lose accounts based on drivers reflections as company reps. Flatbedding also takes a thinking driver. Not putting the box guys down that swing the doors shut, but securing takes a lot of thought. These loads will kill the driver and everyone around them in a heart beat. I am not saying anything negative about this driver. I do not know why he did not make the cut, but as I said before they know what they are looking for. Being turned down by them is no shame. They are picky. Getting selected should make others feel like they are a cut above. In reality they are. They are not out of the woods yet. They still have to prove themselves maverick material.
