Ok, Thanks notarps. 2% is very low. That would make sense to why they take new people in every week if only 2% actually make it. Is there a high turnover rate with Maverick? Or are they getting a piece of Arrow's accounts, to keep adding drivers every week. Just wondering. Thanks

A company driver will get a room by themselves. Students may or may not have a roommate. Depends on who all shows up and how long they stay. Everyone I ever dealt with was always professional and courteous. There is a brotherhood among most mavericks. No other co I ever worked for was like that. Even veteran drivers treat the students well. Will ask them if they want to go out and eat or do they need to go to wallyworld etc? When drivers sign out a vehicle usually several go along.

    Ops85 Thanks this.

    Your welcome!
When I was there the turnover was a lot less than most trucking co's. Trucking always seems high even when you have a good turn over rate. Many do not know what they are getting into and bail. (newbies) To be honest I do not think they will get a lot of arrows drivers. Arrows hiring criteria was not all that tight. I don't think a lot of them will qualify.

I would say that their freight is probably picking back up. They had a hiring freeze when flat freight crashed. (sign of a good company) To give the current drivers decent miles when things slow down quit hiring. Be wary of companies that hire 100 drivers a week when freight is bad. Then they lifted the freeze, but would only take exp drivers. Now that they are taking students again I would say they they are anticipating freight to pick up this spring, but that is only my assumption.

Greetings everyone. Just sitting down from another 14 hour day of work.
I was telling my trainer what had happened to the gentleman and this is what my trainer told me. He said that he was going through his training class about the same time and Ed was telling them, Ed is the instructor who would have sent him on his way, about this older big guy who had many years of fladbedding experience was sent home. The reason they sent him home was throughout the first day he made several references to how he did it at his old place of employment and questions like why can't I do it this way. If this was you, then this is why you got sent home.
Maverick does not know how you used to do it or how much you already know.
They want to know that you will do it their way every time and not experiement.
They go above and beyond the dot regs and do not care what any other company does. It is their way or the highway! Plain and simple.
So if any of you are going to be coming to maverick, keep your ears open and your mouth shut! Even on brakes or after class. The company drivers do report what they hear in the evening back to the instructors.
We get the green light on must weigh stations because we have a high safety rating.
They can not afford to take the chance of someone killing somenone because they used to secure a load another way.:biggrin_25516:

We no sooner get unloaded and we have the next preload already on the Qualcom.
It is hard to find time to eat lunch. If we did not have a refrigerator in here, I do not believe I would get to eat lunch!

I just snack through the day (pork & beans and such)...then eat a "decent" meal when I stop for the night.
