Sorry to hear the problems. Can't use the dome lights that's a new one on me.LOL Jake brake does not waste fuel going downhill. Keeping it on with the cruise control and in rolling hills does. Let the truck pickup speed going down the hill to use the momentum to get up the other side. I myself have been in maverick's Gold club for years. Shutting the truck off after you stop does not hurt the trucks. But if you been pulling hills and temperatures are up yes let the truck run till temperatures are normal then shut it off. Just remember it's just for a few weeks then you get your own truck and do your own thing. Once you get your own truck and that you want help in getting good fuel mileage. PM me and I will give you my phone number I am usually in the top 20 drivers for the company in fuel mileage. Make about 3000+ a year in fuel bonus money. I Have helped A lot of guys get their fuel mileage up would be glad to help you if you want. Drive safe and make the best of the that you can. Glad to hear you and your trainer got things worked out.

Thanks a lot. Made a short run over the boarder today so we can sit at the consignees and deliver in the morning. I took it real easy as we're hauling glass and Canadian speed limit is 60. Got 8.2 MPG on the 157 mile run. Ran 58 mph the whole way. It's quite surprising how much better your mileage is with just a drop of a couple of miles an hour. I look forward to talking with you some day when I get settled into my truck. Thanks

Here is a photo of the "A" frames installed on the step deck trailer before a load of glass. They are attached with three bolts each to the deck. When not in use thy are moved to the headache rack of the trailer so we can transport other commodities such as lumber or as you will see peet moss.

Here is the step deck loaded with glass and tarped. The double trap is somewhat of a pain because you are basically tarping two loads. But not too bad.

Got to the house a day earlier that expected. That's the good news. Got in a huge argument with trainer that's the bad news. I won't go into too much detail here because I don't feel this forum is the right place for that. What I can tell you is that Maverick's Management handled everything in a very professional manner.
In a nut shell I told the trainer I was unwilling to compromise on safety or willfully violate company policy. I stood up and said NO!
Maverick immediately removed me from the truck and gave me a first class ticket home, on Greyhound that is. They are setting me up with a new trainer this weekend.
I still have at least two weeks to go. Might be able to finish up in one trip with the new trainer as glass unit trucks stay out two weeks at a time.

Maverick's policy is to issue you a bus ticket. If you choose to take an alternative means of transportation they will reimburse you up to the price of the bus ticket.
The first time I went out to Little Rock I also flew. Then they sent me home on the Greyhound to correct the name on my SS card. (long story for another time). Second trip to Little Rock I drove and they reimbursed me the price of a Greyhound ticket which was more that gas so I was OK with that. They discourage you from driving because your vehicle may be stuck in Little Rock for quite some time if you get issued a truck. I was returning to NC for additional training after Little Rock so they approved my request to drive.
If you can get a ticket for less than the price of a Greyhound ticket that's the way to go.
