This is awesome, I'm totally stealing it lol.

I guess long waiting at customers is not normal for you guys. In TCD, if we have a pickup or delivery on that day, there won't be much driving. Average wait time for us to load or unload is 4 - 6 hours, sometimes a lot longer, rarely less.

Ok the first quarter of '13 is pretty much in the bag. Here are the numbers

    Jan 12,724 miles 5 weeks

    Feb 10,704 miles 4 weeks

    Mar 7,246 miles 4 weeks

Total hub miles 30,674. In this time I also took 4 working days. March numbers really fell of due mainly to getting held up at shippers and consignees, just bad luck I guess. 2,359/wk was the overall average.

If you go silent you'll wither on the vine and die.

Seeing how your numbers are a little low and it's the start of a new quarter, now is the time to take action. I would call (face to face would be better) my FM and tell them you have goal to run X miles a week, and you need their help. Make a deal and bring the conversation around to "we" are going to do this. When you have a poor week ( don't get caught up looking at individual days) call or message your FM and tell them how dissapointed you are and ask what could "we" have done to make it better. Never inject anger or threats into these conversations.

Conversely, when things go great send a macro 0 to your FM telling them what a great job they did. Even though you did all the hard work they will gladly take credit. I'll do this for example when I get a preplan I'll send back a "thx for the plan". The FMs don't get a lot of positive reinforcement so when you give them some sugar it will be noticed.

Hope this helps, I'll get off my soap box now, time for more coffee any way.
