l alllllrighty then........
Picked up my load in Whicita Falls, Tx. Inspected the load and secured the tarp. Easy peasy. My route took me through Dallas FW area. Boy, that was fun. I sure wish Ida known about all the road construction through there. It made it " interesting" to say the least. Anywho, took back roads and US highways all the way into Louisiana. Stopped at a God awful NASTY mom & pop type truck stop. When I got there, I went into the men's restroom. Uh-huh. If I had to describe it in 1 word it would be "eww." . I never stepped foot back inside that place. Again, eww.
Any how, got up this morning and made a pot of coffee. Did my personal hygeine, pre trip, etc. Drove on. Headed towards Baton Rogue. That also was fun. Stopped at the "Pee-lot" for fuel and a shower. Ive been adding "steroids" to my fuel tank. Biggg help. My tank mpg's have been 7.87, 8.25, and working on 9.02. Not bad for a full load, plus I swear it has more power. Good stuff. Anyhow, ran out ofhours, doing my 10 in a real nice rest area in north Florida.
Guys be safe. Stay in the "right" lane.

Circle around the metroplex when you can, and do it via the southern route. If you're coming from the west, that means coming in on I-20, jumping on I-820, and following it all the way around to 20 again, and then merging onto I-635 north if you're going towards AR, or staying on 20 if you're heading towards LA.
I-20 / I-820 on the south side of both cities is currently the best route to avoid most of the traffic and construction. I-35 W in Fort Worth is 20 years out of date and handles too much traffic, which guarantees you're gonna end up stopped or slowed down, even without any accidents or incidents.
Stay away from following I-820 to the north and getting into the 183 / 121 mess up there. With the construction, it's VERY easy to end up entering DFW airport by mistake, and I know they'll make you pay something in cash to enter, even if you just turn around and come right back out.
When it comes to the DFW metroplex, south is goodBlind Dog and seawheeler Thank this. -
Well, I took my time driving here. Did 57mph the whole way. Still, I arrived almost 24 hrs early. So I sent a msg to my FM, to try to bump up my appt. Nope. Customer won't do it. So, I found a T/A to park in and called my father. I knew that he had moved somewhere around here. So I ask him how far do you live from where I am? He said"don't move I'm on my way." So he picks me up, takes me to his place, we ate dinner, doing laundry now, gonna get my hair cut, and shower! Turned out to be a nice "truck stop" after all. My father retired from driving. He logged over 3.5 million miles. So it was pretty neat. Any who, after I drop this load, hopefully I can go home after this. I haven't been home since March. Im ready for some logging on line 1 time!

Sounds like you have made the right decision after all those phone calls we have shared brother! I am so excited for you and honestly makes me miss the open road! Charlotte sends her love but we want some cab pics when you get set up! You also know I do my morning prayers and you and your family are always a part of them. Be safe my friend!Blind Dog Thanks this. -

Alllllrighty then.........
It was good seeing my father. I know he misses the road. Anyhow, I delivered my load this am, easy peasy. The guy off loading was pretty old, and he had his safe speed that he worked. I don't blame anybody for working safe. The saying is....slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
So I take my time securing the gear and tarps and such. I sent my empty macro, and "poof" there's my deadhead to the house! Yup, I'm headed to Fort living room for 'bout 4 days off. Sweet, and I'm ready.
Lawdawg, I'll get my truck customized while on home time. I don't blame Charlotte for how she feels, but I will say this AINT TMC!!
So, I'm headed north on I95. Rember, Ive been in this truck for a week now. Yup, I gotta run recaps to get home. I pick up a whole 1 hour and 54 minutes of drive time tomorrow. (This is where I would insert some foul language, however this thread is rated PG). So, I'm at the Flying J at exit 29 in Georgia. I'll be able to head a little further north tomorrow, but not much. I am gonna drive though, if for no other reason than to charge my epu batteries. Guys be safe. Stay in the "right" lane.Kutina Thanks this. -
sounds great dog glad you're enjoying yourself. Looking forward to keeping up reading your thread. In joy your home time.

Alrighty. I've got my truck all customized and personalized. The only way I could get my fridge into place was to remove the cabinet trim, insert the fridge, then reinstall the trim piece. It looks real nice and I'm proud of how it turned out. I'm excited that now I can have "cold type" food. I'm supposed to call my FM on Monday, to verify that I'll be ready on Tuesday. However, I'm gonna have to get the truck worked on, it has a leak at the right steer tire hub. Hopefully I will get dispatched to Canada this week. Stay safe fellow drivers. I'll post more on Tuesday. Keep in the "right" lane.
sewerman Thanks this.
