I normally tend to shift somewhere just above 1300 with pedal 3/4 way softly down when empty. Higher when loaded ususally, but try not to go above 1500 ever. While cruising, I try to keep rpms just above 1300, which is usually 58mph in my truck. I used to run 57mph in my '11, but this '13 I have now seems to like 58mph better for some reason. That is my input, but Sewerman, Sarge, and Jim are the experts in this area- as they are in just about all areas....

Thanks guy. I've been shifting at 1200 empty and 1300 loaded. I also act like there's an egg between my foot and the accelerator pedal. My cruising speed is 57. However, my vorad shows 57, and my speedometer shows 59. Which one is the accurate one?

there's a lot of variables in my shifting points. The weight of a load am i going uphill or going downhill.
When I am mt I will you will always shift by 1300 when I am loaded I will shift between 13 and 1600 on the low side going downhill or flat ground on a upside if going up a grade.
Nevermore than two thirds throttle till I am up to speed or I am in at least seven gear going up a hill then once I hit 8 I'll open it up.

Thanks guys for your input on shift points.
Any who, update time... I put my breakdown macro in first thing this morning, for an axle hub leak and tire replacement on trailer. I got dead headed to the Laurinburg terminal. My appointment was at 1600. I arrived at 1500 and checked in with the shop. At 1730, the pulled it into the bay. Now, as soon as you open one of my doors, you will know beyond a doubt that I am a very clean & organized person. I mean spotless floors, the whole nine yards. Anyhow, when I get my truck back, there's dirty shoe prints all over my floor, and my rug in the sleeper. So I'm like what the he@#??? Why would they be inside my truck at all if all I brought it in for is an oil leak? I think to some people, they see these trucks as just a "truck." To me, I live in this thing.
Anyhow, so around 2130 they take the trailer in to replace the tires. So I won't get a w/a till in the morning. I sit here in the truck, and for me, its pretty cool NOT knowing where I'll be sleeping tomorrow.
Guys be safe. Stay in the "right" lane.

    Allllllrighty then.....
Easy money. I got a w/a to deadhead to Richburg,Sc to swap trailers for a loaded one. I just sat 24 hours because the trailer I had needed work. Oh well, at least its a load. So I arrive at the shipper at 1900 local time. They haven't even started to load my "new" trailer yet. So I go and drop the one I had, and park in front of the bay where my next trailer sits. They tell me to relax, they will let me know when its done. Keep in mind the late start I had for the day, so I had about 8.5 hrs of drive time left. Any who, by the time they "got" me, I had 30 minutes for my 10 hour break. Needless to say I got my 10. Anyhow, inspected and tarped the load, made coffee, did personal hygiene. Left, headed to Cincinnati area. I arrived here with an hour and a half left on my clock. My appointment is at 0700, they wouldn't take me this evening. So, the moral of the story is....I drove 57 mph the whole way, got 7.89 mpg, and still got here early.
See, it can be done. Y'all be safe. Stayin the "right" lane.
