I am interested in joining Maverick Transportation. I live in Ohio and am planning on going to Southern State Community College to get my CDL. I want to join Maverick but am also looking at Roehl. If anyone has any advice or opinions on either company I would love to hear it. Also if anyone knows anything about the school please comment.

    Thanks

From what I've heard Maverick is top notch and only take the best of the best. If you get to the background stage you have beat the odds.

Maverick probably has better pay and top-notch training for flatbed.
You might want to confirm this, but I believe Roehl gives you routes they expect you to take and tells you when and where they would like you to stop for fuel.
Maverick does not. They have suggested routes, but you can go whatever way you want. The idea is to stay within a certain percentage of the most direct route.
They have an account with one of the big truck stops. If you want to go down the road to the next one, for example, you can with no problem.
The biggest thing that turned me off of Roehl was all the stories of micromanagement I read on here.
It's unfortunate because otherwise they seemed like an okay company. Their CDL training is supposed to be pretty good and the cost is minimal as long as you stay on with them for x amount of time.

Toymaker is correct about Maverick. And what sbarber7973 is spot on. IF YOU get the offer to attend orientation at NLR for Maverick, I highly recommend that you accept. There is a line a few miles long to get in their front door Man. Good luck.

Roehl and Maverick are both excellent companies. Sewerman's son drives for Roehl and likes it. As was stated, they do choose your routes and your fuel stops for you. The pay and the home time do not seem to be as good to start. The equipment is not as good either. But if you stay with them, their matching 401k kicks in and I think some other perks that make it a good investment. Also, they will get you your cdl at a very reasonable deal.
I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, but would pick Maverick over them for myself given what I know....Best of Luck!

Good job, waiting for my recruiter to call me back and tell me the same thing... I've been just waiting on a date and a available trainer once I am done with Orientation and Glass training.

Roehl... You'll see why I say this in about 2 months.
Although, yes I do agree maverick has its training perks.
